The Sikhiri Cottages

Ended up here after strong independent recommendations from two different friends and did nor regret our decision. Located on the Manas national park border, the forest feel continues within the resort with its many tall trees and bamboo growing all across the property. The nicely designed cottages were clean, comfortable and cosy. The staff was helpful and helped organise all our safari trips including to the recently opened Kahitama range and the fun elephant interaction. Located as it was at the edge of the park, we saw rhinos grazing not so far from the property, which was exciting. The immersive walk around the nearby Bodo village was also a memorable experience. Special thanks to Mr Shakti Singh Shekhawat who went beyond his call of duty to organise emergency medicines for me by waking up a village chemist post 9pm. Definitely recommend.

The place itself is very beautiful, with a variety of trees planted within the compound. The rooms are cozy but minimalistic. The staff are really courteous and specially Vikas at reception desk deserves a thumbs up. Food is homely too, nothing fancy. With kids *****, activities in the resort are limited. Suggestion is to atleast have a kids play area with slides and swings. And TV should also be provided in the rooms. Rest is all good !

Lovely cottages under the canopy of many trees, planted a decade ago by the owners . A big contrast to most of the other hotels in the vicinity which largely lack vegetation. 101 species of bamboo. This is reflected throughout the place in particular in the architecture. we stayed at one of the riverside cottages which are somewhat larger than the standard category. Beautiful veranda facing the river and the fields beyond. Excellent hot water in the bathroom, which is not always the case in the Northeast. Nicely cooked meals served in the open restaurant, which was a bit chilly during our travel, but come prepared with a warm jacket and you"ll enjoy it. Bonfire with drinks being served before and after dinner. Great location to Manas Park entrance and to the nearby village where the indigenous Bodos are welcoming and happy to have you look at their happy and simple lifestyle. Sunday market a bit further away but still doable on foot or by e-rikshaw (60 rupees one way).
