Hotel Traube Tonbach

We stayed with friends who had already stayed at the Traube a few times for three nights during the week. It was our first time at the Traube, and we hadn't really heard anything bad about it, and 5*S means something. First impressions: Large building, very winding, lots of stairs, narrow hallways, you have to search for the elevators. The Schwarzwaldstube and the Schatzhauser were really positive. Very attentive, friendly service staff who remembered four orders of meals and drinks and were even able to assign them to the right guest upon delivery. That's about all the positive things. Our stay at the hotel had nothing to do with 5*S. Regarding the room: - It's very dated, as can be seen from the carpet. Shower in the bathtub, cheers to the flexible one who climbs over the edge and doesn't slip in the tub. - The bedsheet had a stain when we arrived and stayed that way until the end. - Two glass bottles of water with fingerprints were sent to reception. Weren't refilled - the room key either opens the door or it doesn't. You can't be in a hurry to get into the room. We only managed to open the door once. The electronics behind it are probably just slow. That's more or less how it was explained to us - the electronics probably also applies to the light switch behind the room door, which didn't turn the light on straight away either. They had to be asked - When we arrived, there was a dirty toilet paper roll in the bathroom. The next morning we put it on the shelf above the toilet, with the dirt clearly visible. When we came back in the afternoon, it was back on the spare holder. I then unrolled it and threw it in the trash. A courtesy to the guest: - At breakfast on the first morning, the couple at the next table celebrated their wedding anniversary. During breakfast, three members of management(?) came to congratulate them. Great gesture. NONE of the three people said "good morning" to the surrounding tables or said any other kind of greeting when coming or leaving. - At breakfast on the last morning, we sat around 10:30 a.m. with our last cup of coffee and chatted. At the next table, ... (unfortunately, name unknown, but was among those congratulating us on the first day) collected the name card and, looking at our table, said: 'You're leaving us today.' Nothing more. What was it trying to tell us? Hurry up and finish? We looked at each other, perplexed. As for the food: - The breakfast buffet was okay, nothing really special. Avocados had black spots (not tarnished), ginger was dried out. - The Black Forest cake with coffee wasn't fresh, at least a day old. The cream was solid, not fluffy, and the decorative cherry had already formed a crust in the cream. Actually, there wasn't any, and suddenly there was. - Sauna: - Infusions at 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. There's no more than that; you can't pour it yourself. It's a bit too little. In winter, you're

Wir waren in den letzten 10 Jahren einmal im Jahr Stammgast in der Traube. Frühstücksbuffet und Abendessen im Restaurant Silberberg sind immer noch auf sehr hohem Niveau. Die Hotelzimmer entsprechen allerdings auf keinen Fall mehr einer 5-Sterne Bewertung. Muffiger Teppichboden, Dusche in der Badewanne sind schon lange nicht mehr zeitgemäss, sondern ein Relikt aus den 70er / 80er Jahren. Eine begehbare Dusche findet man heutzutage in jedem 3-Sterne Haus. Die Hotelzimmer wären allesamt schon seit Jahren reif für eine General-Sanierung. Die Traube muss aufpassen, dass sie nicht dasselbe "Schicksal" erleidet wie das ehemalige Spitzenhotel "Bachmair" in Rottach-Egern am Tegernsee. Seit 4 Jahren ist das Bachmair geschlossen und niemand weiss, ob es je wieder öffnen wird !!! Ich werde dieses Jahr in das neue 5-Sterne Resort "Sonnenalp" in Ofterschwang gehen und damit der Traube "untreu" werden. W. Herzog, Bad Boll

As a long-time guest at the Traube, I now feel immense frustration. They cut corners at every turn (except for the overnight price), and around every corner you expect a petty controller looking for further savings, no matter how small. Ten to 15 years ago, this hotel was the absolute national leader in guest service; your every wish was anticipated before you even expressed it. Today, however, you have to search for qualified staff with hospitality experience in many places at the Traube, be it at breakfast, at the reception desk, which is no longer staffed continuously, or in the bar, where trainees are driving the place into the wall by replacing alcohol with crushed ice in cocktails. Anyone who remembers Mr. Stöhr will cry now; surprisingly, there are hardly any guests there in the evenings. The towels and bathrobes are worn from frequent washing, and the formerly excellent beauty products in the bathrooms have been replaced with cheap ones. The price level for overnight stays remains high, but the value for which people were once happy to pay has unfortunately dropped dramatically. A large portion of the staff struggles with German. Even the owner family's continued pleasant and regular greetings to guests can hardly help. What positive things can be reported? The quality of the half-board at the Silberberg Restaurant and the breakfast remains top-notch, even if you often have to wait a little longer for the staff to come to your table to accommodate your requests. We found the recent award of three Michelin stars for the hotel's performance incomprehensible.
