I would rate my interaction with the front desk and manager 10 out of 5. Not a typo. They were really that good. Really standout customer service. We liked the hotel's location in Baddeck for ease of access to restaurants and water front within walking distance. Overall, Baddeck was our base for exploring Cape Breton. On to impressions of hotel and room. Hotel has multiple buildings and several parking lots. The grounds are beautiful. We stayed in the Huntly Building (which has an elevator). We were able to park close to the building during our stay. (At check-in at about 7 pm, we were advised to park wherever there is availabilty) Our room had 2 double beds and was comfortable and clean. The bathroom was a bit dated, but everything worked properly. While there is a fridge in the room, there is no microwave. A microwave was available for guests to use in a communal area. There were really no outstanding deal breakers that would give me pause not to stay here again. And, I would be remiss not to reiterate my experience with the team's superior customer service. A job well done.

Clean and well presented room but was so hot, and air con was seemingly from 1970s and made now difference to the temperature. When we operated it the machine just roared and made a musty smell. Room was well appointed. Did not try restaurant or breakfast as there was a power cut during the evening. Helpful staff. All in all decent but no better…

My first impression of Auberge Gisele was not good but as we stayed each day, we really enjoyed this place. All rooms are exterior entrance and the outside decks/wooden stairs (no elevators) did not give a good initial impression. However, the room was very comfortable, spacious and very clean. The housekeeper works hard and does excellent work. Only complaint about the room was the tv did not have great reception and the wifi was weak. I loved the outside areas with the adirondack chairs where I enjoyed reading in the evenings while enjoying a view of the lake. The gazebo is good for relaxing too but I tried to leave that for larger groups who may have wanted it. We stayed on the 2nd floor of the Hilltop House which gave wonderful views of the lake. I was not expecting that at all! AC was a little loud but worked well. We did not try the dinner or breakfast, choosing to enjoy some of the local establishments in Baddeck, all in easy walking distance if you choose. We used the laundry facilities ($3.50 a load) and found it very convenient. The front desk gladly provides you change to use the machines. All in all this a wonderful place to use to explore all that beautiful Cape Breton and Nova Scotia has to offer. (Highly recommend the Amoeba Boat Tour. Very reasonable price)

What a great place to stay in the scenic and quaint Baddeck! The grounds are well-manicured and decorated with flowers, plants, fountains, etc. The staff were all helpful and efficient. Room was comfortable and had all the amenities. Restaurant attached was great - we had the awesome continental breakfast two days and supper one night, which was fantastic (try the butter chicken, with in-house made mango chutney). Check-in/out was quick and easy and there was lots of parking available. Location is close to the main drag if you want to walk around.

We checked in on July 3rd. When we went to shower on the morning of July 4th we had NO hot water. Upon check out that day we mentioned this to the front desk and requested a discount on the room. The clerk said he would put a note in our file and the manager would get back to us. I have followed up with an email and a phone call and have heard NOTHING back. I am very frustrated and would certainly not recomment this hotel to anyone who likes hot water for showers and good customer service.

The grounds are beautiful and the place is located in a great spot ! We very much enjoyed sitting out on their patio . The rooms were dated .. but clean . The big window had curtains you couldn’t pull to darken which we didn’t like but otherwise we were happy . The restaurant was busy for supper the night we went and the food was average . The staff were above average.. very friendly and helpful… the young gentleman we met both days was wonderful ! He was very busy but he made time to talk and was great… he was very friendly and we thought highly of his work ethic !

Check in and out was seamless. Friendly staff. Comfortable clean rooms with views of the lake. Plenty of parking. Can either eat breakfast on site (not included in room) or go to the nearby Tim Hortons. Restaurant for dinner, on site. I would stay here again.

The Auberge is an old frame 3 building motel. Our room had a parking lot view with the lake visible through the trees. We stayed 6 days for convenience. A major unresolved issue was the shower which ran from faucet and shower head simultaneously thus reducing the impact of the shower to a trickle. Three complaints brought no plumber for repair. The renovations have been basic…new flooring is nice, but electrical wires are dangling from uncovered outlets. TV was useless. Beds seemed good quality and fridge/ microwave were welcome. Maid service was acceptable. Dining room service was good, Angela a friendly waitress. Dinners were very consistent, but our only breakfast was dreadful…no replenishment of anything for later arrivals. Tim Hortons is a short drive. There is huge potential here if the family invests more energy and $$.

Lovely hotel in an ideal location for exploring the area. Our room was spotless and very comfortable. There is plenty free parking. The staff were very friendly and very welcoming. We didn't eat at the hotel but found some super restaurants close by. Would certainly recommend this hotel.
