We stayed for two nights 30 May, so the season hadn't quite got into swing. We stayed in the main building, the room was modern and spacious, the bathroom was modern with a decent shower a nice room. The reception staff are super helpful. The bar gets a bit noisy especially with the live music but there is space to sit outside . Breakfast, others have commented on this as well, I would suggest you go an look at the buffet before you commit , an alternative is "At the Terrace, 22 Water Street " run by the same people who manage the Freight Shed.

Glad we stayed in the main building because reviews of rooms in the other buildings sound awful. Our room was new, modern and large. The property is very large with lots of other buildings on the property and a restaurant on the water. We stayed for four days but only ate at the restaurant once for breakfast. It wasn't worth it. The buffet was meagre with the usual items, however sitting outside just to lap up the beauty and stillness was lovely. There are several other places to eat; Baddeck Lobster Suppers, The Freight Shed, The Cable Room at the Telegraph House and for breakfast and coffee try High Wheeler Cafe.

The Inverary Inn overcharges for what you get. We had to call twice to get the toilet to flush it was supposedly fixed on first visit but not. I fixed it myself after second visit The beds were not appropriately made and bottom sheets laid loosely over the mattresses. Double beds and both the same. A pillow was missing a pillow case. I know we were in the older building and understood the noise from the room above. I mentioned my issues on check out as well as sent a note later. I got the automatic response that your message was important yo us and we will get back to you Now 6 days later, still no response I did not expect a price reduction but an acknowledgement and apology would mean I would not be writing this public review. I cannot recommend this place

When we arrived we were really positive based on initial appearance of the resort. However, this didn't last long. Our room wasn't in one if the attractive looking buildings across the resort but in a more utilitarian one that also housed the swimming pool and spa. There was the inevitable smell of chlorine, but that was compounded by close proximity to a monster ice machine that made one heck of a noise regularly through the evening and night. The window frames were covered in mildew, and the toilet flush stopped working, so I had to adjust it to get it working. Can't work out if the hairdryer was old or retro Only saving grace was very comfy beds

The resort is set in lovely (well maintained) grounds at the centre of this historic town. You are only five minutes drive to the Alexander Graham Bell Museum and 15 minutes to either end of the Cabot Trail. The rooms are a little tired and a bit dark during the day but they are spacious with good cupboard space. The beds are comfortable and there is a good choice of pillows. There is no safe but WiFi is good. The shower is fine although the bathroom extractor is a little on the noisy side. Breakfast in the resort restaurant is good and is made better as is overlooks the picturesque bay. A perfect location for touring Cape Breton.

On the Cabot Trail. This place is beautiful and on the water. They offer pet friendly rooms and have 2 restaurants on site. Breakfast is served down by the water and is buffet style offering for $20 per person add on. They have indoor and out door dining options. The restaurant located in the lobby has a bar with pub style food. Service was fantastic and food was fresh and hot. Rooms are charming and clean.

The location is unparalleled for its beauty and to walk round the site is a pleasure in itself. Rooms in the main building appear to be very recently refurbished and are excellent in every respect. Guests who were accommodated in the lodges were less happy. We dined in one evening and it was fine. The second night we went out locally. Breakfasts are in a restaurant separate from the main building. They are very good.
