I had a wonderful weekend getaway with my parents, searching for a spa hotel that was conveniently located, not too far from London, and in a beautiful setting. Hartwell House was a perfect choice—an enchanting, historic hotel with stunning views and breathtaking 18th-century décor. Staying there felt like stepping back in time. The food was excellent, the service attentive, and the spa provided a relaxing escape. It’s an ideal spot for a romantic retreat. I would recommend it to everyone! While I would love to give 5 stars, I was slightly disappointed when a staff member didn’t arrange a cab on time despite requesting it an hour in advance, causing unnecessary stress at the end of an otherwise incredible stay. That said, all the staff were accommodating and friendly.

From the moment you walk in it is an outstanding experience beautiful artwork on the walls The ground floor reception rooms are so lovely they take your breath away. All of the staff were at the top of there game. One young man told us all off the history about the house . Bedrooms and bathrooms are nice. Breakfast was a good start to the day . The grounds are wonderful iots and lots of trees I love it

I’ve stayed at Hartwell several times ( 4 or 5 at least) The hotel is a beautiful historical building set in 90+ acres of beautiful English countryside. The rooms are somewhat old fashioned which suits me, The restaurant is superb , the food quality is very good albeit somewhat pricey. There is a jacket and tie recommended policy in the dining room for dinner but unfortunately it’s not strictly enforced, Why people stay at such traditional old properties then decide to disregard the rules is beyond me , I’m please to say the majority of men where apparently dressed. I will certainly continue to stay at Hartwell as long as the standards are kept up.

The old days of welcoming back a regular patron seem to be dead I’d hate to tot up the amount I’ve spent over the last 25yrs at Hartwell - dined there approximately 250 times over the years and have stayed at the hotel a number of times I’m early for an appointment in stoke mandaville so I thought I’d start the day with a hearty breakfast - arrived at the entrance to the hotel this morning at 06.50 to enquire if I could have breakfast as a non resident at which point I was told no without any explanation or sorry have a nice day sir - I was literally left at the intercom outside - what’s happened to the service Hartwell ?

A truly beautiful English estate. The staff were extremely welcoming, friendly and just amazing to be frank. We had a wonderful afternoon tea in the drawing room for a big birthday celebration. Nothing was too much trouble, just a wonderful time had by all. We will visit again next month and more frequently, as this place and the wonderful staff are just the BEST.

We think this is possibly the finest hotel we have ever stayed at. The staff are friendly, very professional and clearly value your custom. The ambience is wonderful, you really are staying in a stately home and are treated accordingly. The food too is wonderful and dining is in a magnificent restaurant. The grounds are a delight. It is difficult to find any negative points. A real treat to the senses.

We have always enjoyed visiting Hartwell House for spa days, lunch in the cafe, afternoon tea, evening meals and the great accommodation. It’s a fantastic venue with beautiful grounds. We booked a large family gathering this weekend in the Octagon Room with use of the drawing room for private drinks beforehand. From start to finish it was so well organised with great help from the events team through to excellent service, canapés, meal and drinks, flower displays, accommodation & weather(!) which all went down so well with the family & friends and made for a really memorable weekend! A big thank you to all the staff who helped make us so welcome!

1000% recommended. The food was divine, the service warm and friendly. The setting peaceful and relaxing. It was a delightful ambient afternoon. A little chilly, nothing an outdoor heater or firepit wouldn’t fix. Thank you Hartwell. Tapas on the terrace is definitely a win. X
