We decided to stop here for the night after reading numerous positive reviews and seeing that this motel had an on-site restaurant...a big selling feature for us. After a long day of being on the road, we prefer not having to get back in the car to drive somewhere for dinner. As it turns out, the restaurant was closed, but I only found this out after we had checked in...and when I went to the front desk to ask what time the restaurant opened. The website had also advertised breakfast for a nominal fee, so, of course, this wasn’t available either. We ended up here on the weekend of Warren Buffet’s shareholder meeting in Omaha; because accommodation availability in the area was low, the price for rooms here was up…and more than what we were expecting to pay. Supply and demand! We had a second floor room, and there were mattresses leaning up against the wall in the hallway! No idea what that was about but not a welcoming site as we walked to our room. We had a room with two double beds, a microwave and a bar fridge. The room was clean, and I loved that there were no carpets. It was quite chilly in our room when we arrived; thermostat was at 61 and it took a while to warm things up, but then we were good! The hotel has a no smoking policy, but the hallway smelled of smoke and we had a burn hole in our bed covering. There was no shampoo or hair dryer in the room. These were available but upon request; same with an iron and ironing board. We chatted with the owner, and he seemed to be a great guy. He told us he’s had this place for 20 years!
