We booked three nights in April for a relaxing break. The property itself is beautiful and, overall, the renovations from an historic farmhouse into a modern hotel are excellent. There are plenty of spaces to hide your away with a book & bottle of wine or to walk from the front door around the surrounding countryside. The presentation of the website for the property portrays a chic adult-focused environment, however the reality is far from this. During our stay, there were three couples with young children and, particularly at breakfast, this made for a very noisy & disruptive start to the day. The other element we found astonishing is some of the other guests allow dogs just to run freely around the property - both inside and out - without being on the lead. At least two other couples had dogs with them. On our first night, we had made a reservation to have the tapas in the wine bar. Asked on arrival what time that opened, told 8pm so said we would come down at 8.30pm - it was still in darkness. A table from a staff meal still uncleared. Had to find a member of staff who then came and switch on the lights. Despite it being lovely room, it was completely soulless with no ambiance with music nor candles.. wine list brought but no tapas menu. Asked about the tapas and was rather haphazardly told that we could have this and that from the kitchen. What was served was fine, but why advertise there is tapas, allow a reservation and then not be prepared for it? The second night, we came down for a drink and the room was lit with candles and had music playing in the background - just odd and poor consistency. Third night we booked a table for dinner in the main restaurant. The menu is rather limited (understandably as a small property) however the main course of beef was stone cold. Mentioned to the waiter who apologise but no adjustment made on the bill. Rooms are OK, not very spacious and elements of style over substance which impacted on comfort. The room we had had a large terrace above it with one family using it has a space for their young children to play football - being a stone building, every single sound echoes and impacts on other guests. The little spa is not worth paying the extra. It was not very clear at all and the facilities lacking. One of us had a massage and the massage room is located next to pool and close to reception which made the whole experience far from relaxing with constant noise. Sadly would not return nor recommend. Its location is isolated and the owners would be much better positioning the property as an adult-only oasis of calm & tranquility, which it could easily be - but trying to be all things to all people, just does not work.
