Great location, Super friendly, very clean with a million dollar views. Would go back again. Easy walking to all city sites in Avalon. Great entertainment out in front at the stage , we enjoyed the music and dancing, not to loud . Try Pacific Grill two doors away, and the Pizza place next door!

Me and my friend went for just 1 night. They have a really nice ac and heater. The view was awesome. We had the closest ocean view and you can hear the ocean waves as you fall asleep. When we checked out we were able to store our bags there for free so we could enjoy the rest of the day without having to carry all our stuff around. Just until they closed the office for the night. My friend said that the guy working the counter made her feel safe with his hospitality and he was so polite and helpful and knowledgeable. All the staff were friendly and amazing. It also has a nice lounge area and vending machine. It was a great experience and place to stay overall. 10/10 will be going again

This hotel is centrally located and just steps from the main Avalon beach. The rooms are clean and adequate, and the bathrooms are small with art deco style tile. The one main problem is that the after-hours phone number did not work, so when our kids locked us out of the room, we were quite concerned for a few hours. We finally found someone who knew someone who knew someone who worked there and they called them to come out. Small town stuff. I envisioned us staying out on the beach for a night. Sheriff office was also incredibly unhelpful. Hotel really has to fix that phone number.

Catalina is a fun and charming destination, offering a nice mix of beach and hiking adventures. It's helpful to know that most accommodations on the island are on the "beachy" side, and staying in a convenient location has its perks. We chose this hotel for its proximity and overall reviews, and it worked out well. The room was clean and comfortable, and we appreciated being on the first floor, as requested. That said, the bathroom was relatively compact, and getting in and out of the shower was a bit of a squeeze. Overall, it served our needs and was a good base for exploring the island.

We came to Catalina for a weekend getaway, and it was a great experience at the Hotel Mac Rae. The location is perfect to experience the downtown. The staff is attentive and the coffee is excellent. The price was also much better than the competition. We will be back!

Room was clean and hotel was right on the beach, but it was a very small, expensive room (no beach view) and we had to walk up many stairs (no elevator) and with luggage it wasn’t easy. The staff was excellent and they even called us to let us know we could check in early so that was unexpectedly nice. The hotel is old and the rooms need to be remodeled

Friendly staff, Cute and great location
The staff were great. Very accommodating and friendly. This is an older hotel, right on the Main Street where the restaurants and shops are. Right across from the beach. Very convenient. Our room was very small and no view, just the patio area. The room was cute and very clean. They said breakfast was included which were pastries, yogurt and coffee. It was pricey for what we got but I guess it’s about the location. What we didn’t like was to get to the office and rooms you had to go up two flights of stairs, there wasn’t an elevator. If someone is in a wheel chair or crutches, this isn’t the place for you.

Daniel (front desk) was the best host! He called us the night before to pre-order breakfast...which was unexpected and awesome...he was well informed with regards to dining and breakfast facilities...he was very attentive and made the experience feel more than what we payed for! Great experience at MacRae Hotel!

Front desk was not very friendly. It was very noisy throughout the night, several people banging their suitcases on the stairs and slamming doors. Location was great.
