Well our Austin hotel saga continues. After booking a perfectly dreadful Fairfield Inn on Research Rd and leaving it after one night, we landed in a great mid-level hotel here. The place is top drawer for its price. Friendly staff. No smoke smell and very clean No chipped furniture Bed much more comfortable. Better layout and attention to details they travelers appreciate.

Friendly staff, clean rooms, quiet surroundings, solid breakfast but mattresses too soft for a good night’s sleep. Will test mattress before unpacking for any future stays and request new room if necessary.

I texted in advance that I'd like our two rooms to be adjacent. It was acknowledged and I was told it was arranged. On arrival, the staff said I only had a single room and it took research to find the other reservation. So then they had to change the location of room #1 so it would be next to a second similar one. The staff was very pleasant through all this, but for me to show with my group and be told "no, you only have one room" didn't start things right. Regarding the rooms: one smelled so bad that an occupant stuffed a hand towel soaked in cologne into the AC vent. The other was nicknamed "the Colombo room" because of its multiple large red stains in the middle of the carpet. The in-room coffee maker is small and flimsy. Breakfast is very mediocre with few options, and located in one building - possibly not the one you're in - so, even in inclement weather, you'll need to walk over. The staff were pleasant and helpful at all times, though. I suspect that the smell/carpet stains are issues with management and not the individual employees. At this time, I can't recommend this Hyatt.

The room was great. Lots of space and very comfortable. Lighting was much better than most. The room was clean, bed comfortable. It was fairly cold night in Austin. Could have used another blanket, but the heat worked well instead. Overall a nice stay for one night. Would stay here again.

If you like roaches crawling on you at night, this place is INFESTED with roaches - literally crawling all over the room at night. BIG ones. But sadly that’s just the beginning ofthr sad decline of this once great Hyatt property. Staff at check-in provided limited toiletries (they seem to be out of everything), the rooms are in bad shape (carpets peeling, old furniture), and you can tell this is a Hyatt property in decline. I lived here for a month a few years back — what a difference a few years make. This property would be OK if it were a Rodeway or a Motel 6. But it’s a freaking Hyatt House. Roaches and downtrodden rooms are not what Hyatt customers expect. Property badly needs refreshing and some insect repellant.

Wow. This place is not up to Hyatt standards at all. I realize Hyatt House is a budget brand, but...First, clerk could not find our reservation at check-in. Weird. As basic a booking as it gets -- made via Hyatt app at "member rate" more than a week in advance. Finally found it. No recognition of status, had to ask for complimentary water that goes with Discoverist status. OK. No big deal. Go to room, unpack, settle in and discover clumps of human hair on the carpet by the desk. Wow. Somebody gave themselves a haircut in the room, and nobody cleaned it up. Closer inspection showed the floor had not been vacuumed at all -- rest of room was relatively clean, they just forgot to vacuum. That's kind of a big deal, but we cleaned up hair ourselves because we had already unpacked and settled in. Had takeout for dinner, and noticed swarm of sugar ants on kitchen counter within minutes of placing food there. Gross. Then the biggest complaint -- lack of hot water. First shower, in evening of arrival, had acceptably hot water, but only after allowing shower to run for more than 5 minutes as it slowly inched its way from cold to warm to semi-hot. Whatever. Second shower, hours later, had no hot water. None. Cold. Third shower, on morning of departure, had no hot water, None. Cold. That's flat-out unacceptable. I was asked how stay was at checkout, and I said, truthfully, that it was terrible and recited the reasons. Got a half-hearted apology and nothing more. When I inquired about some sort of compensation, as in points or a discount or a comped stay, was told that would have to be done by a manager and that they would contact me. Clerk confirmed my email and phone number. That was a week ago. I have not heard a thing from a manager or anyone else.

First of all they had a water damage issue in Building B with dehumidifiers running24/7 by the 1st floor elevator lobby and a big drum of water sitting there with vacuum for at least 4 days .It was so stuffy in the room and with hat you couldn't open a window. It was so humid my allergies kicked in maybe from mold? As regarding housekeeping, it was non existing. The housekeeper knocked on our door the first day and we told her all we wanted was towels and it seems we had language problem and after I explained what kind of towels she gave me some .We kept our Do Not Disturb sign on our door at night, but took it off at 8-9:00 AM each day so we could get the room serviced as we were away for the day .The staff seen us leaving a few times and when we returned the room was never serviced .Finally after day 3, I went to the front desk and told him what was happening and they replied that the manager walks the floors and shows the staff which rooms to service and that our room probably had the do not disturb sign on the door, I call that bull crap because they never checked our room during our stay there. This place is so outdated, I never expected such service from a Hyatt property
