Stayed 2 nights while in Auckland for work. The room was not clean. There was hair in my basin, the mirror looked like it had spit or toothpaste smeared on it. I got a coffee mug out of the cupboard and it had a coffee ring around the bottom inside. The microwave had dried butter and food congealed on the plate. I found a previous guests' use toiletry items in a draw and the room was very dusty. The staff were friendly enough and the bed was quite comfortable. I was fortunate as my colleague had stained sheets on her bed. The meal in the restaurant was satisfactory

I like this hotel because of the location, amenities and the rooms are good. It has a cozy British pub feeling restaurant and a pool. It is convenient to town without being too close. I have enjoyed staying here for years.

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights. Our room was located across the road from the main hotel. Big rooms with a kitchenette. Very clean. Beds very comfortable. Newly designed bathrooms. Hotel itself is a little dated but very clean. There isnt a lot of communal areas to sit in and the room did not have a private outdoor space to sit in. We did not use the pool. Laundry self service available 2dollers per wash. Washing powder supplied. We managed our own breakfast not sure if there is one supplied. Restaurant did really good pizza. Good Wifi. The hotel also gives sim cards that we used for the duration of our holiday, we obviously had to top them up. The hotel also has a car on site that you can rent by the day. Staff very helpful

Mahara and the team are friendly, professional and so welcoming! This is our second stay and we absolutely recommend it for families with babies. Peaceful and quiet at night, too.

While the exterior of the hotel and desk and halls were all quirky in a retro way, our room was pleasantly modern and well laid out. The beds were comfortable and bathroom very nice. The air conditioning was effective but not too noisy. Ayer pressure was excellent. The small indoor pool was very handy. The location and price were excellent for us. On the negative - the soundproofing wasn’t good so noise of other guest moving in the hall was annoying. Just before we got into our beds my wife spotted a COCKROACH on her bed which was rather upsetting. As well the cleaning wasn’t finished in the bathroom: both the sides of the shower and the bathroom floor had been smeared with cleaner that hadn’t been rinsed off or buffed clean - you could right your name in it 🙁With that sort of cleanliness you can see how you might find a cockroach there. Very disappointing!
