The host is not staying in the property and need to wait for 15 mins at the front door for him coming back for entry. The host left some basic stuff like bread and cereal for the guests. It is basically not a BnB.

Aachen House is a stunning historic building. Full of character and history . So much more interesting than a normal hotel room. My room was huge and comfortable with a balcony and a seperate bathroom. The bath was amazing.

Gone downhill with new Owners
Had trouble getting in, no one around, had to phone them. Room stunk of over perfumed smelly cleaners. This was once a premier private hotel, a member of the Rolling Stones once stayed there for some months after hurting his head falling from a coconut tree in the Pacific Islands. The Hotel was sold a while ago & is obviously no longer up to the standard it used to be. Probably over priced based on lower quality & poor service. Won’t stay there again.

We were fortunate to secure a room in this lovely boutique hotel for our trip to Auckland for the Coldplay concert at Eden Park. The location was perfect! With on site parking and the train station a very short walk away, it took us no time at all to get to the stadium, and the return home was also stress free. The room was spacious and comfortable, and we loved the 'olde world' charm of the building. A minor issue was the noise from the guests upstairs from us, though my husband slept through it all :). Would happily book in here again.

Loved the decor - beautiful old world charm. Quirky collection of china and art works. Beautiful linen, fluffy white towels. Friendly open kitchen area. Excellent service. I left my drink bottle behind when we left - it was couriered to my home at no cost! Thank you Michael
