Cairn Lodge

We recently stayed at Cairn lodge hotel and we were really impressed. We were given a warm welcome by staff who really looked after us during our stay. We dined in the hotel and the food was amazing. The hotel’s decor is luxurious and the attention to detail within the hotel is superb. The setting of the hotel and the grounds are really tranquil, it was a very relaxing experience. Everyone is so attentive and helpful, they definitely make you welcome. We look forward to visiting again.

From the dining experience I would most definitely rate the Hotel a 5. Food & staff were amazing, doing everything possible to ensure my son was accommodated between a nut allergy and his food intolerances and aversions due to sensory sensitivities and other factors. Unfortunately the same rating cannot be given as far as accommodation and customer service was concerned. Prior to booking a Signature room, I liaised with the hotel to ensure my sons needs could be met in terms of room noise - no loud noise, kitchen fans, etc, thus ensuring there'd be no issues for all concerned and most importantly for my son to self regulate being away from his familiar home environment.  I was assured the signature room would meet his needs perfectly and the booking was made. We were allocated room 8 which was beautiful, however, we'd been allocated a room with kitchen fans outside our window which became very apparent when retiring for the night in what should have been peace and quiet!! The droning sound from the fan took away the glamour of the room and my son quickly became fixated on the overwhelming noise. He was unable to filter it out, it became extremely painful, irritating and distracting, leading to sensory overload - this room was totally unsuitable! After a night of no sleep, we addressed the issue with reception. The only vacant room in the hotel was Room 2. Whilst grateful for the change of room, albeit a downgraded room no refund was offered! Furthermore, we learned that there was a known fault with the door of room 2 not locking from the outside, meaning anyone had access to it!  The door lock was reset and problem fixed 24 hours after us occupying the room. It wasn't the short break we'd hope for, lots of stress which could easily have been avoided if consideration had been given to our advance request.

The staff were delightful. A young student who looked after us at dinner had a friendly personality and did an excellent job as did Eileen on reception, who made us feel very welcome. We enjoyed our stay very much. The bedroom was very comfortable and had everything you could need. We were even offered fresh milk for tea and coffee making in our room. The conservatory where we ate was very tranquil and had a tree in the middle of the room with tasteful fairy lights. Given the chance to go back, I would love that.

A hidden Gem and a proper boutique hotel. You are made to feel very welcome as soon as you arrive. Room 4 was beautifully appointed with everything you need - fresh milk for your lovely china tea pot, big fluffy towels, big bright bathroom with separate shower, bathrobes, comfy easy chairs and luxury bed linen. Some other things that make this hotel a 5 star is the staff. They are so friendly, helpful, cheery and professional and seem to take pride in their work. The food is exemplary. We have eaten here numerous times and the food is always of the highest quality. We had breakfast and dinner and both were very very good with imaginative cooking and good presentation. The general ambience of the hotel is welcoming and cosy with big trees in pots, the bright and cheerful conservatory, the bar area and also the lounge area which is particularly cosy on a winter's night. 10/10 - - can't wait to return.

What can I say, cairn lodge is beyond words, from the moment we first walked through the doors, cairn lodge gives you wow factor, from decor, to the wonderful staff that always give you a beautiful smile and warm family welcome. Eileen our wedding coordinator has been outstanding from the get go, going above and beyond, as with every staff member at cairn lodge that give you outstanding service, no issue to small, every single one will Do their upmost to accommodate. We look forward to having our wedding here in due course.. As for the food, wow !!! we have continued to dine here ourselves and with friends, each and every time the food has been beautiful, melt in the mouth experience, they always strive to make sure every mouthful to be just as good as the first bite..I think cairn lodge deserve every accolade, mitchilin star going , but even then I think they would deserve more, well done to you all, you are all a credit to the cairn lodge name..

From the moment we arrived we realised we were in for a very special stay. Great welcome, fabulous room : luxurious furnishings with large comfortable bed, perfect bathroom with everything we needed. Loved the individual teapots for making drinks in our room! Fresh milk was delivered too. The restaurant was lovely with delicious food, friendly service and good value. Highly recommend a stay here. Eileen and her team are first class. We will be back next year!
