We chose this hotel – ‘boutique’ in size as I would dare to say of all the others in this lovely island – because of its location, almost exactly midway between the famous mills with the nearby restaurants in the heart of Chora town and Livadia, the main ‘fully-serviced’ beach in the island, both being about a 5 to 10 min. short walk from Tholaria. As a family of 4 with teenager twins, we stayed in the Tholos suite, with a ‘regular’ bedroom and another one in a mezzanine configuration for the kids. The suite was quite comfortable and very nicely decorated, and the whole propriety overall very well taken care of. There is a small pool with stunning sea views, which only the kids used once or twice during our stay. Special mention to the owner Maria, always very kind and available, even giving herself the trouble of proudly explaining to her guests the choices (mostly different every day) available in their ‘Greek-certified’, superior-quality breakfast. If I could advance any suggestions, maybe breakfast could be made available a little earlier than 9 am and I would also recommend more ‘liberality’ in providing the excellent (fresh) orange juice served at breakfast (being myself well aware of how hard it must be to properly manage at a profit such a small-scale and very seasonal business). Overall, good value for money and highly recommended!

Had a great stay at Tholaria! The rooms are nice and clean and the owner and staff are great, friendly and helpfull. The breakfast was good, had a variety of options every day. The room we had was very quiet, which was good for a good night sleep, the terrace was also great and had shadow in the afternoon.

Hotel incantevole, curato nei minimi dettagli sia dal punto di vista estetico che funzionale e con un panorama fantastico. È situato vicino alla chora raggiungibile con una piacevole passeggiata come anche la bella spiaggia di Livadi sottostante. Noi avevamo la camera Cavo, che consiglio per la totale privacy e il panorama. La nostra camera aveva il letto a soppalco nel quale abbiamo dormito benissimo anche perché l aria condizionata era presente anche lì, inoltre, la scaletta per noi non è stata affatto un problema. La colazione era buonissima sia nella parte dolce che salata in quanto caratterizzata da prodotti tipici grechi che ogni giorno variavano; c'è un piccolo terrazzino e chi vuole può farla lì. La signora Maria è stata gentilissima, così come tutto il personale, Georgios, in particolare quasi sempre presente e soprattutto nel momento della colazione. Entrambi con i loro sorrisi hanno allietato le nostra giornate....Comunque le parole non bastano a descrivere questo posto ... è solo da provare!!!!!

This is a fabulous boutique hotel on a gorgeous island. We stayed in the Egeo spa suite and it was every bit as special as it looked in the photos, and at the end of May was great vale for money. Sitting in the private mini pool/spa on the terrace with its stunning view of the Aegean was an unforgettable experience. It was without doubt the best hotel we stayed at during a ten day trip to Astypalea, Amorgos and Naxos - possibly the best experience we’ve had so far at a Greek hotel, up there with the lovely Platys Gialos Hotel in Sifnos. The owners are very friendly and welcoming, and the icing on the cake: fresh orange juice for breakfast.

Super hôtel de charme familial dont les chambres ont vue imprenable sur la mer et le château de Chora. Excellent accueil de la part de la famille qui se plie en quatre pour vous rendre service (merci tout particulier à Maria pour les navettes du premier jour). Très bon petit déjeuner très varié avec beaucoup de plats fait maison. Ménage parfait serviettes changées chaque jour. Un plus, Chora et ses nombreux restaurants est accessible à pied de l' hôtel et la plage de Livadi n'est pas très loin en moto ou voiture. A ne pas rater, la croisière d'un jour proposée lors de la réservation, superbe expérience. Merci à tout le personnel du Tholaria qui a grandement contribué à faire de notre premier séjour sur Astypalea un très beau souvenir.

Tholaria is an amazing hotel! This is my second year and will be followed by a third. The room was very clean with a terrific view. It was normally cleaned while I was having breakfast which was idea for me. Towels and toiletries were replenished daily. Lots of breakfast items are homemade and vary daily. The hotel is built on a hillside so there are stairs but quite doable. The gem of this hotel is the family and the staff running it. They can’t do enough for you! They always greet guests with a smile and treat you like family. The hotel is just a short walk from Chora so with an amazing view of the castle. Highly highly recommended!!

Abbiamo passato una bellissima settimana in questo hotel; non posso che confermare le recensioni positive, anzi di più! Abbiamo soggiornato nella camera "Cavo", molto grande e silenziosa, arredata con gusto e con tutto il necessario; bagno con bella doccia e finestrato; letto su soppalco con scaletta, per noi molto bello. Grande terrazza con una stupenda vista sul mare e sulla chora. Proprietari gentilissimi e cordiali, e sempre disponibili. La colazione naturalmente è il pezzo forte dell'hotel, davvero tutto buonissimo e fatto in casa. Peccato solo non aver potuto fare la gita in barca causa vento, ma Astypalia e il Tholaria saranno sempre nel nostro cuore. Un grazie speciale a Bibi, senza di te non sarebbe stato la stessa cosa!
