As the main building of Domaine du Moulin d'Asselborn was fully booked, we had a room in the second building, Auberge du Relais Postal. Check-in (and out), dinner and breakfast were at the Domaine so I gave my review there for those items. Here I will give my review about the room. The Auberge is about 1km from the Domaine but it is very steep in between the two locations so not so easy to walk or take a bike, we took our car to go from one place to the other. We booked two standard rooms but one turned out to be some kind of suite with a table and chairs, sitting area, ... the other was a lot smaller and a lot more basic. Price for both rooms was the same (we found this a little weird). The rooms are very nicely decorated with lots of details respecting the theme of the room (ours was Turn and Taxis). If you want a modern, sterile kind of room, you don't have to book here. Beds were very comfortable and we slept well, despite some noise from the street and the fact that it was warm (and there is no air-conditioning). Bathroom was what you need, nothing extra. A pity that the shower gel is in small plastic bags, a big bottle would have been better for the environment and easier to use. The room was not extremely clean as we found al lot of dust f.e. on the frame of the bed. We understand that these types of room with so many decoration and character are less easy to clean so it did not disturb us too much. We missed a second bin in the small room as we only had a bin in the bathroom. There is no elevator but as our rooms were on the first floor, that did not trouble us. The prices of the mini bar are very high, this is never cheap we thought it was really exaggerated here so we did not use anything. We missed a free bottle of water. And the coffee facilities were horrible. The water boiler was full of calc. The instant coffee available was not good at all. There were two types: deca and coffee 3 in 1. As we do not like sugar and milk in our coffee, we tried the deca first. The powder did just not solve into the water, it was disgusting. The three in one was from Nescafe and that is good quality but that was just too sweet, you only tasted sugar and no coffee. Our advise: put some normal coffee of Nescafe as there is no need for 3 in 1 as there is sugar and milk available for the people who want. We missed some lights in the standard room as we had no light at the ceiling. Wifi connection is not too bad. The suite is very suitable for longer stays, the standard room is okay for one or two nights. We could park at the backside of the Auberge where the entrance is but we were with two cars (2 couples from different locations in Belgium) and there was only room for one. We could park the other at the street. We will definitely come again because of its location close to nature and possibilities for walks as we did not have time for this. We just hope that some points will be improved by our next visit.
