Gold Beach Hotel & Residence

Kind service and excellent location

I stayed here for 5 nights on a school trip as this hotel is surprisingly present on the school travel companies website. However, I and many of my classmates found this hotel to not be as school friendly as they say they are. On the first night, we were obviously very excited to be in a room with our friends resulting in quite a lot of noise and chatter. This consequently upset the other hotel residents and we were faced with a threat to be kicked out by the manager. If you are going to put yourself on a school travel website, then please be prepared to endure noise and chatter from the children staying at your establishment. In addition our wardrobe was broken, with the middle door being wedged somehow into the ones either side, our bathroom lock also didn’t work which was slightly problematic.

Excellent location and very clean. There was a kettle in the room and wifi was fast enough. I would have given it an excellent grade if it had not been for two very minor points and one beyond the hotel's control. First, for some reason, some hotels have stopped providing regular soap bars and haven't put out a container with liquid soap, this hotel was the first on my trip that did it. I got a tiny bottle of either soap or shampoo to be used as soap, but a tiny bottle like this is not convenient for pouring and washing hands. Still not quite clear on this one. And I was not the only one who went to the reception to ask for regular soap. Got a tiny bar, was enough for one night, but that one was the last one they had. Two, it appeared that each room had its own water heater. So if one is not careful, one risks to run into tepid water at the end of one's shower. Three (and this one was beyond the hotel's control), a class of US high school students checked in. Unfortunately, my room was close to the reception and kids are kids. Hence poor sleep because of loud talk, banging doors, etc.
