A unique tour, completely different from those we've done in previous years with other agencies. The ability to hop on and off after the start and before the end offered us the great opportunity to, as far as possible, only see what interested us. I confess that my main goal was to visit the attractive capital of Turkmenistan, but I ended up deciding, and rightly so, to also visit Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. Ashgabat is truly a very different city from any we've visited, and its people were the friendliest and most helpful I've ever encountered. It's undoubtedly a tour worth taking, especially given the great diversity between the various countries that, although neighboring, are so different. Everything went as expected, given that it was organized by a renowned agency specializing in unusual programs. The only downside for me, for which the agency is not responsible, was having eaten lamb for four consecutive meals!

I stayed in the hotel off and on during my trip to Turkmenistan. I found the people at the front desk very helpful and most spoke English. The hotel was in a good location, with shops nearby. Although the hotel is non-smoking, the hallway always reeked of smoke. The wifi worked inconsistently. One of the days, the water cut out and then sludge came out of the tap. Note that the tubs are quite high which may make it difficult for some people to get in and out of the shower.

Decent hotel in a good location of Old Ashgabat. The rooms are dated, especially the bathroom, and very warm. Air seemed to circulate with the air conditioning, but the room never became much cooler. It's possible to open the window, but the sun filters into the room all day so our room was quite warm most of the time. Breakfast was a basic buffet. Reception and restaurant staff spoke English well. The hotel is a short distance from the airport and has some city highlights, restaurants, and a grocery store within walking distance. WiFi requires a 24-hour voucher and is good, although some websites are restricted. The hotel will also hold luggage if needed.

Stayed five nights on 7th floor in a basic double bed room overlooking a park. Yes, room was dated but clean. Beds comfortable. Ample storage space. Bathroom was fine. Ample hot water. Heated towel bar came in handy. Room was warm but window opened easily. Front staff spoke English and were pleasant. WiFi worked well. Breakfast wasn't fancy but sufficient. Wait staff were cordial. Restaurant stayed open to 1AM and offered a solid hamburger and milk shake. Front desk staff was happy to open the basement level gym. Overall, a solid price-performer stay for Ashgabat.

My wife and I stayed her for 3 nights in October. Our tour company placed us here, so we could be in a residential neighborhood to walk around. It is NOT a 4-star hotel as advertised. It reminded me of a Motel 6 in the United States. It is a 2-star hotel at best, and like a 1970's Soviet hotel. The staff at the front desk were friendly and spoke English quite well. They also gave a great exchange rate from USD to local Manat currency. Our room was clean but old. We chose single beds for more room. The mattresses were very lumpy, narrow, and small. The bathroom towels were old and raggedy. There was no room safe. Worst of all, the food in their restaurant at breakfast was horrible! After eating here once we found a great restaurant (the Uzum Café) about half a block away where we ate all our other meals. Their food was great and at very good prices. The hotel is in a quiet residential area (where you can freely walk without an escort) and about a 10-minute drive to the airport.

This hotel was not our first choice, but others were all unavailable because of visiting delegations. This hotel seems to have been preserved in a time bubble since the soviets walked out in 1991. That is apart from the mould and other ageing deterioration which continued on! One room had rusty brown shower water, another had mould extending up the wall. The porcelain toilet was cracked through. Our double room was provided with just one towel, and the second towel provided after request was damp and unusable. It took a long time to arrive and took multiple requests. However, we did use their laundry service and it was prompt and satisfactory. !

The hotel has a good location in the old part of Ashgabat. There are restaurants, bars and supermarkets on the next street and the city circus right in front of it. Rooms are good size, but very minimalistic. Breakfast good have been much better.

Firstly, check in was very smooth with polite staff on reception - it was a bit disconcerting that they keep your passport on the first visit, but that's the rule in Turkmenistan. I had 3 different rooms - all of different quality and can say that the rooms on the higher floors are better if only because the AC works better and the noise is less. The decor in the room is typical post Soviet, dated and a bit tatty, but comfortable enough. The bathrooms are also a bit shabby, brown water when you turn the taps on and bath area with loose fittings and shower that is difficult to get the right temperature with. In the hotel grounds, the pool and bar area are excellent and the hotel puts on good entertainment in the evening. The location is very convenient for the centre of Ashgabt and also for the airport and if you don't fancy eating and drinking in the hotel, there some nice cafes and bars nearby. In summary, it's OK for a short stay if you're not looking for opulence and luxury.

I stayed here for 3 nights as part of my Turkmenistan tour in April 2024. This was the first hotel I stayed in upon my arrival to Turkmenistan. The hotel is certainly quite dated and its wear and tear are showing through. Based on the furniture and decor, the hotel must be from Soviet times, and despite its worn out state, I think that is part of the charm of staying here. The front reception lady was friendly and hospitable, and spoke very good English. My room was spacious and had a nice view of the city skyline. Although you can see old stains on the walls and bathroom, the hotel room itself was clean. I was only given a small towel, tiny bar of soap and shampoo. Based on some old photos of this place, I think they skimmed down on toiletries because it looked like they used to provide more. My room was not made, and I am not sure if that is intentional or not (to be more environmentally friendly?). The safe in my room was also not working, but I was able to lock my valuables inside my luggage. The one nice bonus about this hotel which I think has changed from the past is free Wifi. They offer a 24-hour voucher, and you are allowed to ask for another voucher once it expires. The Wifi was reliable for me in different parts of the hotel. Breakfast was included as part of my stay. It was very simple and basic, and consists of pasta, meatballs and meat stew, pancakes, hard-boiled eggs, deli meat slices, cheese, and vegetables (cucumber, tomatoes). To drink, I think they had tea, as well as instant coffee and juice. If you need a real coffee fix, there is a nice cafe just across the street (Uzum Cafe) that serves coffee and specialty coffee drinks (e.g. latte, flat white). The pool was not open during my stay as I was informed they are only open during the summer.
