Room 6 avoid!! I stayed here the night before surgery at the Benenden as the location was good. Room 6 is behind the reception desk. You walk behind the desk to get to it. The room had a really bad smell which I then realised was the bed sheets. It was like they had been boil washed in vinegar so there was no getting away from it. The room was freezing cold I had to sleep with socks on as the radiator was not working. To top it off the room was noisy. The desk is not always manned which was a blessing but I did not appreciate the night staff talking at normal volume right outside my door between 12-4 am. I had the worse sleep I have ever had and was not rested for my operation. I can confirm the room was clean but I wouldn’t stay again based on the rest of my experience. Unfortunately there was no one around when I left and I couldn’t wait due to a taxi waiting. Please be more aware when you book our room 6!

What a wonderful find ! A quiet, well appointed hotel with an excellent restaurant attached. Friendly, helpful staff from reception to restaurant waiting staff. Would happily visit again, the only drawback being the sloping ceiling in the bedroom on which I knocked my head head a couple of times!

Very poor hotel We stayed overnight because my wife was being admitted to a nearby hospital at 7.00am the following morning. As part of the hospital requirements she was to shower with the shower gel that the hospital provided. We were preparing for an early night when we found that there was no water supply. It took a while to get the water supply back on and when the staff left the wet bath mat used to mop the floor was left on the floor. The following morning we were up at 5.00 am to prepare for the day. My wife was required to shower again before admission but there was no hot water. We had to shower in cold water. The hot water supply was came on after 5.30 am, We left at 6.30 am am and there was no one available on reception to speak to about the shortcomings. I returned alone at about 9.00 pm there was no one on reception. On going into my room I found the room had not been serviced. There had been someone in because the tea and milk supplies had been replenished but the bed was unmade and the wet bathmat left on the floor after the water supply had been turned was still in the shower where I'd left it at 6.00 am. The towels were probably clean but weren't a good colour. When I left at 9.00 am to collect my wife from the hospital there was no one on reception so I couldn't make a complaint to any of the staff. We regularly stay in hotels, budget hotels including Premier Inns, I've never before left an adverse review. This was the worst hotel I've stayed in.

A complete waste of time. I couldn’t use the original booking as I had a family emergency. I was told I could have a credit to use another time. Wanted to use this weekend if they had availability. Tried calling, texting and emailing several times not one reply Wouldn’t waste you time just very rude So unhelpful

My wife and I stayed at The Kings Hotel near Tenterden in Kent for a 3 night break and enjoyed our stay for a variety of reasons. Firstly, the staff were lovely, helpful and friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Secondly, the hotel is also home to one of the best Indian restaurants in Kent/the South East, which has an excellent menu with some unusual and delicious options such as Scallops, Venison and Duck all beautifully cooked with tasty spices, sauces and so on. The room was decent enough (especially given the price) with tea/coffee making facilities, TV, air-conditioning, free WiFi, and on-site parking. The hotel/restaurant itself is situated a few minutes drive away from the lovely town of Tenterden which is also home to the Kent and East Sussex Steam Railway (a must for any visitor (I also recommend the tap room right next to the station which has a superb selection of beers and regular live entertainment). I can't really fault the hotel to be honest (probably the only thing to mention is that the door to the shower in our room didn't open very wide and I personally found it a bit of a squeeze to get through it!) but, if you want someone close to Tenterden and the surrounding area (there were several places to eat within a few minutes drive (we ate in The White Lion in Tenterden and The Chequers on the Green (just a 3 minute drive from the hotel) both of which were good choices) but not in the town itself (there were several places to stay in Tenterden itself but they were more expensive and parking could also be an issue at times) The Kings Hotel is good (were already planning our next visit/stay as we discovered that the restaurant host regular live events and we quite fancy the Freddie Mercury tribute night!).

Nice and clean. Friendly staff. Bed really comfortable. The hotel is near the road but we didn’t hear it. No bar but there is a restaurant attached so you could probably get a drink there. No choice with breakfast which is an additional cost, but what we had was fine.
