Whittaker's Motel & Historic Bunkhouse

Great location and environment. Near Mt Rainier National Park. Staff are helpful. The room 24 is big enough for 4 adults, if adding the coffee machine in room which is prefect.

We made a last minute reservation for one night stay in this motel in ashford WA. The location is perfect. It is near Mt Rainier and nestled in the small Ashford town. This cabin lodge is spacious, with basic living needs. There is no coffee maker or water kettle, no microwave or mini fridge, no hair dryer. The bed is too soft and making squeaky sound. this motel is still a good value with the cost. I would recommend a few enhancements though, add a coffee maker or water kettle in the room, along with a hair dryer. Improve the bedder and linens quality. This will definitely improve the attractiveness and award a high price / earnings for long term.

Rustic and dated. Great location for going to Mount Rainier. The room may not have been used recently because there was an active spider that had dropped dead carcasses of flies on the bed’s headboard. I’m not afraid of spiders and I appreciated the flies being eliminated but it would have been nice if the carcasses had been wiped off before we came. The toilet leaked and puddled along a baseboard. The coffee was delicious though and the cafe charming.

Basic accommodations at a decent rate. Queen bed was comfortable but firm. Quiet, serene setting. Fans provided in the room. I arrived late in the evening and was gone by 10am the following morning for a day hike at Mt Rainier. Unfortunately the regulator in the shower wasn’t working so there was just freezing cold water. When I mentioned it to the front desk at check out they said they’d have maintenance look at it, but no discount was offered.

Terrible terrible experience. The hotel is outdated. The boards on the porch are uneven and unsafe. The beds are hard. The curtains are a bit ratty. In addition, there is no air condition but they provide fans. We were there in August and it was hot and trust me fans did not cut it. The hotel is way overpriced for what you get. I believe they can charge that amount only because of their location. That is all they have going for them. In addition, the staff did not seem to be very knowledgeable but were nice. This was our first trip to Washington, Oregon and we were so excited. This was our first day of our trip and first stay at this hotel. We will never stay here again and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It is not cute or quaint. It’s just old and outdated. It could be super cute, but they have some work to do. Also if they do not have air or tv and spotty wifi- they should let people know that. I think those features are just a given. 👎😞. Big disappointment.

We stayed in the Cottage just 1.5 miles from the main motel. It was a delightful cabin! Immaculate and well equipped, comfortable bed and a cozy fireplace. The privacy was the best part, well, except when the 15+ elk greeted us steps from the porch one morning! :-) The location is great, close to Mt Rainier entrance. Don't miss the hot tub-it's the perfect private spot to relax. (There's also a huge fire pit with seating by the Grill) Got a pizza from there and it was very good. Friendly and efficient staff made check-in & out easy. Tasty latte in the office, thanks Raven. Special thanks to Jennifer, she went the extra mile on more than one thing for us.

Once again, I visited Ashford and Mt. Rainier National Park. I stayed at Whittaker's Bunkhouse for 8 nights. It is, as always, wonderful. If you are looking for a cookie cutter motel/hotel with elongated rooms with the bathroom near the door then this isn't the place for you. However, if you are looking for a beautiful, cozy, friendly, unique place to stay then here it is. It is located in Ashford near Mt. Rainer, and it is well suited to that environment. The folks who work there went out of their way to accommodate some of my scheduling difficulties. I just can't say enough in praise of Whittaker's. Thanks again for a very enjoyable stay.

This is quirky but fun. We had 2 rooms in the Lodge which were Huge, both clean and tidy. Wi-Fi, Fridge, Microwave but no Coffee unless you pay for it in Reception. Bath/Shower. No complaints about this at all, ample parking and fun place in a rural setting. Would happily go again.

Decent place to stay for visiting Mt Rainier National Park. Good-sized room with two beds, but one of them wasn't particularly comfortable. There was no TV in the room, either. Hot tub on property was welcome after a day of hiking in the Park. Good ice cream in the store!
