Holiday Inn Express & Suites Asheville SW - Outlet Ctr Area

Recently had to book here for our son’s baseball tournament for youth World Series/Athletx. It was considered stay and play. Just walking in the doors, you were hit with a moldy musty smell. The room was even worse. We spent one second in it. After further inspection, we questioned front desk about the huge hole in the wall in laundry area and were told they would cover it. This is not secure and safe!!!! Cover it with what!!!!The front door to lobby had exposed wires. There was a lady mopping floor at front but I did not smell any kind of cleaner or disinfectant. This place would need more than bleach to smell remotely clean . Anyone could walk into construction area and in through the laundry room. The manager Marcus was not very helpful with my friend who spoke up first. Saying that they would only charge us one night. Then also stated to her that a hole in the wall of laundry was a deal breaker? Are you kidding me! After listening to him be rude and snarky to her, I was in no mood to deal with bs,At that point we knew we needed a new place to stay and were forced to relocate and eat the cost of one night. It was a long drive and the start of our trip. There was five families that cancelled due to same issues. They did nothing to make this right! And I will be calling corporate as well to further complain. This is not how you run a business. I was also told that the management said they made things right with us. No you did NOT!!!

Mildew musty mold odors upon entering the lobby and through out the property. The rooms were no better. Prior to arriving a few days to the reservations we were all told the tub room was a mistake and not on property yet we later found the same rooms available on property. This property is old and not updated at all. The pictures online are very deceiving. The property lobby & breakfast lounge is extremely small. The front electronic doors were also off, not completely closing, and had exposed wires and a large missing panel above the doors. We checked in and within 20 minutes we wanted to canceled but the Manager refused to refund our first night. The property is under some construction and had walls knocked out of the actual laundry room and another missing from the exterior of the building yet it was open to all guests to access. The gate around the construction was also open even at night. I literally was looking at the road and parking lot. The manger Marcus was snarky, stating the property was safe and secure for guests. He addressed nothing about the odors. When I contacted IHG corporate and Athletx who booked the youth baseball tournament, they were unaware of issues but also did nothing except offer some IHG points. This is not how a situation should be handled. IHG actually told me to contact the property manager again and try to get refunded after being told no and treated badly. The manger at the property also later lied, telling Athletx they made it right with multiple families that booked from the team. This was a flat out lie! All 5 families canceled upon arrival and were charged $136.73 for one night. Athletx also took a $39.00 fee. We simply wanted a refund or to move to better IHG property due to safety and health concerns but were told they don’t do that and charged us. Never again IHG properties.

It is very nice and close to several restaurants and the oitlet mall is across the street.
