We booked this hotel as part of a birthday surprise, and it turned out to be a great choice! The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the room was clean, comfortable, and perfect for what we needed—a good night’s sleep on a comfy bed. The food really stood out—delicious and well-presented, making the celebration feel extra special. Overall, it did the job and more. Would definitely come back for another occasion!

My wife and I recently stayed at the Royal Berkshire Hotel as our home away from home for an 11 night visit to the UK from the USA. Not only were the accommodations excellent but the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.

The staff were all lovely - very helpful - and the grounds are stunning. I wouldn’t be so critical were it listed as something less than 4*. It definitely falls below 4*. We had requested a ground floor easily accessible room. Ground floor, yes, but a long and difficult manoeuvre to the room for my friend who has mobility issues. Additionally, and afraid I didn’t take photos but the curtains in our room were torn in a few places and the windows covered in cobwebs on the outside, heavily chipped/marked paintwork, a non-functioning fridge. The shower was the waterfall type from the ceiling - no hand shower, not good for us. It sounds quite funny but the mirror in the bathroom started more than 4 feet from the ground and although I could just about see my face, my friend was unable to use it. There were small, flat round tables either side of the twin beds i.e. no drawer/cupboard leaving the room constantly looking untidy. Then there was the menu. Fine but not great for the evening but severely lacking for a lunchtime snack - black pudding scotch eggs, beetroot hummus. No normal light bites or sandwiches. However, a group there for a conference was offered fish pie and other delights. I ended up popping to Waitrose for sandwiches. As already said, staff and service did pass muster but some tlc to the rooms and building overdue

Not a good feel on arrival. Booked for 2 nights but asked if we can only stay for one. No refund would be given though. No room keys worked and we are now basically surrounded by a wedding who are all over the hotel. It says quiet. It's not. Horrendous. Would definately not return.

Our daughter got married at this beautiful hotel in February this year. The hotel is ideal for weddings, set in lovely grounds. The hotel itself is very spacious with plenty of room for the guests to mingle. We had a wonderful weekend with the whole event going without a hitch this was due in no small part to the marvelous team on duty that day.

Great Afternoon Tea had today at the Royal Berkshire Hotel. Service from Harriet was amazing, very attentive and kind. Children’s Afternoon Tea was great, my son loved it. Took my sister who was visiting from Oz and she said how lovely the setting was. Grounds were amazing to look out to and was very nice with the open fire. There were plenty of sandwiches, cakes and great choice of teas. It was delicious. Definitely will be coming back. Thank you.
