Just finishing 15 nights at The Spice Trail. We were in a garden room which was spacious and clean with a fan, mosquito net and quiet air conditioning. Rooms have a small fridge good fresh water supply and toiletries. Pool area great as was often deserted - can get crowded if families staying . Found staff very helpful and accommodating. If anything didn’t happen it was due to being lost in translation . We had breakfast included but not necessary as many spots nearby , however breakfast was good with choices. Seems to be the most upmarket hotel in town with great coffee and treats at front gate. Only real issues for me were a bit of a splattery shower and not enough sun around pool so the 4 seats in the sun were popular. also they put shade over pool also - felt not necessary. Minor issues. Would stay here again .

Great expectations but didn’t deliver over all. However most of the staff were more than helpful but not necessarily trained. Lack of finishing whole tasks properly and not given full information e.g. when arrived, it was not explained how the paid breakfast package works excepted for you have to order Sri Lankan breakfast the night before. There were other issues but no where in the world have have we ever had to pay for some milk to put in my tea!!!! Ridiculous.

We had a brilliant stay at Spice Trail. People were friendly and had a calm disposition. The food was really good, yummy breakfasts both Sri Lankan and western. Rooms were spacious and comfy, beautiful surroundings with the gardens and the pool was amazing. The cafe Kaffi had great coffee with a brand new coffee machine and yummy treats. Highly recommend staying here.

Visited last week with my wife and kid and found out this place as a hidden gem in Arugambay, Sri Lanka. Service provided and tasty of the food was top notch and must mention that this place is filled with lush greens even though it’s ocean front. (Can walk to a calm and clean beach in just 2 mins). Rooms are in suits style and very spacious and clean and only regret was we stayed for only one night. Highly recommended.

We stayed here 2 nights during off season as we wanted to experience a little of a luxury stay. Prices are quite high for what it is and we found that the staff (receptionist) was not very friendly compared to other places in Sri Lanka. The pool is very beautiful and enjoyable and the rooms too.

Beautiful hotel and grounds with pool, excellently maintained by friendly helpful staff. The rooms are spacious with a private outdoor space. Thoughtful details such as free glass bottled water refilled each day, umbrellas, beach throws (as well as the pool towels provided). The breakfast options are imaginative and served on their own delicious home made bread. On the main road and so very close to other eating options and beach but the rooms and pool area are set well back and very tranquil. We stayed in the low season and so we often had the pool area to ourselves.

Very nice boutique hotel in a super convenient location with spacious chalets. Nice welcome and very professional staff. Chalet was luxurious and food was excellent. Equipped with a small pool and it was overall a very nice stay with my family.

We went during the off season in Arugam bey. We were friendly welcomed by Ashan. Spacious Rooms and nice swimming pool. Alacarte breakfast was properly prepared. Breakfast felt luxurious. Cocktails needs improvement. Prabanjini, Darshan ,Suvikanth tried their best to provide an exceptionall service. Want to come back during the season.
