I was totally cheated by the hotel this night. As I must wash my hair and take a shower every night, they only did a simple cleaning. Although other hotels in Iceland are expensive, they basically meet or exceed expectations. If you are not driving from Akureyri to Snæfellsnes Peninsula as a transit, you must not stay there! This town has a village feel to it. It is totally possible to live in Stykkis. Drive for half an hour to see Straw Hat Mountain and Seal Beach. The hygiene is very poor, there is no front desk, no one is cleaning, and the hotel smells rotten. The TV in the room, which had previously broken, was placed next to the bed. Not taken out. I have never stayed in such a rubbish hotel! The hotel knew that the hot water system was broken but did not tell us, so we had no hot water to take a shower at night in the temperature close to zero; the bed covers were smelly! They were used by the previous guests and were not replaced at all; there was no elevator and you had to carry your luggage to the 2nd or 3rd floor. If you wanted the Indian at the front desk to help you carry it, he would just stand there and ask for a tip; the hotel was opened by Indians and there was an Indian at the front desk. Not only was there no one at the front desk at night, but the hygiene conditions were ridiculous!

Great place to stay on the Snaefellsnes peninsula! Simple hotel and nothing fancy, but we found it clean, convenient, and quiet for an enjoyable stay. Very close to Kirkjufell, so perfect place to stay if you want to go early in the morning or late at night when there are few people there. Lots of parking available either in front of the hotel or in the gravel lot right behind, and a few restaurants within walking distance in the small town.

NO HOT WATER
We arrived the hotel soaking wet and freezing, and all we wanted to do was to take a hot shower, but surprisingly there was no hot water at all. There was no one at the reception desk. We tried calling the number they gave us for issues, but no one ever picked up. This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. DO NOT STAY HERE.
