DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Chicago - Arlington Heights

The hotel is located within walking distance to a supermarket, so you can comfortably stay here even without a car. Additionally, the hotel and the surrounding area are quiet, so you can enjoy a good night's sleep.

As a frequent traveler, I'm used to having some version of a snack bar or at least a place to get drinks and such. Apart from the two bottles of water in my room and the handy refrigerator (for what, exactly?), there was nothing available. The front desk clerk lied and said there was a vending machine on every floor. Nope. The room itself was OK, though the pillows just applied for Social Security. Stack three and they work nicely! The one too-small elevator did OK (it rattled, but got us there), but we weren't in a hurry. The other was out of order, but they're working on it. Old? Tired? That's what a lot of reviewers say. Maybe. I just wish I could get a Diet Coke.

Bottom line staff was great, schutte to O'Hare is a joke, clean and well maintained but dated. DO NOT CONSIDER THIS AN AIRPORT HOTEL! The Shuttle is not reliable! I think they recently updated the name to remove the reference to Chicago O'Hare International Airport (or I'm compeltely mistaken). I booked what I thought was a reasonable value hotel with a free shuttle to and from the airport, was stuck with almost $80 in Uber cost becaue the shuttle wasn't showing up and they were not answering their phone. All that said, there are some bright sides to this hotel once you get over it not actaully being an airport hotel. The staff was all very friendly and nice, the restaurant food was pretty good, the facility appeared clean and well maintained. Many aspects of the hotel were somewhat dated, but like I said clean and well maintined. The dated elements of the hotel are to be expected for the price point. They get the one star from me becuase of the Schuttle, for what I had to pay in Ubers I could have just stayed at the Hilton physically connected to the Airport and not delt with the schuttle.
