Property Description
Cliff House Hotel sets a new standard for those whose love of travel is matched by a passion for fine food. Elegant, modern and intimate, stays revolve around cosy lunches, innovative dining and exquisite scenery. Vast windows fill the hotel with light, and frame green and blue views of the Irish coastline. The panoramas continue in every bedroom and suite, where spacious beds and freestanding baths set a laidback luxury vibe. A spiral staircase unites the levels of the hotel, which perches on the side of a cliff overlooking Ardmore beach. Local art adorns the walls, and Donegal tweed adds an element of softness amid clean lines and slate walls. Hints of maritime style appear in the Seaside Bar and Terrace, where roaring fires keep the cold at bay in winter, while al fresco dining feels more Mediterranean than Atlantic in the summer months. No matter the weather, swimming is available year round in the indoor infinity pool, where guests are treated to more awe inspiring seascapes. From lounging by the pool to relaxing in the spa, serenity is never far away. House signatures include an indulgent outdoor seaweed bath, or a treat for the feet using the anti inflammatory properties of Irish peat. If you prefer your diversions slightly more bracing, you are in the right place. A clifftop walk along the coast will rejuvenate and inspire, and the hotel also arranges sea kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, nature walks and more. Further afield, Waterford is full of historic sights, picturesque towns and quaint fishing villages. Follow a day exploring with a glass of wine in the House Lounge, the perfect spot to while away a calm evening. Cliff House Hotel is a Small Luxury Hotels of the World property.

I am very satisfied with both the location of the hotel and the cleanliness of the room. Except for the bad attitude of the waitresses at the front desk and restaurant, everything else is very good!

When you want to get away from City Living, from Noise, from Hustle and Bustle, when you want to be by the sea taste the salt in the air, and breath fresh air, no pollution, noise or light. At night look up and count the starts, if this is what you need then this is a place to stay. What I liked most about the Hotel was its understated attention to comfort and detail. They seem to know what pleases and what can irritate before you know yourself.

We arrived just as the kitchen was breaking between the afternoon and evening sitting. Mya met us at the door and was able to accommodate us getting a food order. We were so grateful. They organised outdoor seating for us and our dogs. The food was fantastic. And it was served super quickly. Very good value for money. Service was impeccable.

This was the worst hotel I’ve been to in a long time! The hotel has wonderful views but that’s where it ends. The spa had no warm water, we decided not to bother with the seaweed bath, went for lunch, we had to ask to be served after being ignored for about 20 minutes, once our order went in, it was another hour before we got our order. The food was beyond terrible, I had to return mine, I noticed another gentleman handing back his as well, in the meantime the roof of the restaurant was leaking water, it could not be any worse! The menu is limited and overpriced for what they serve. My suggestion would be to pitch a tent in Ardmore, it would be less stressful and same views for a lot less money !

Lovely hotel in a fab location . Definitely a break away from life. We had fab weather so dining outside was superb. Pool was a bit too cool for my liking but refreshing. My husband went to the sea. Staff were lovely...pleasant and smiling 😃
