Cliff House Hotel sets a new standard for those whose love of travel is matched by a passion for fine food. Elegant, modern and intimate, stays revolve around cosy lunches, innovative dining and exquisite scenery. Vast windows fill the hotel with light, and frame green and blue views of the Irish coastline. The panoramas continue in every bedroom and suite, where spacious beds and freestanding baths set a laidback luxury vibe. A spiral staircase unites the levels of the hotel, which perches on the side of a cliff overlooking Ardmore beach. Local art adorns the walls, and Donegal tweed adds an element of softness amid clean lines and slate walls. Hints of maritime style appear in the Seaside Bar and Terrace, where roaring fires keep the cold at bay in winter, while al fresco dining feels more Mediterranean than Atlantic in the summer months. No matter the weather, swimming is available year round in the indoor infinity pool, where guests are treated to more awe inspiring seascapes. From lounging by the pool to relaxing in the spa, serenity is never far away. House signatures include an indulgent outdoor seaweed bath, or a treat for the feet using the anti inflammatory properties of Irish peat. If you prefer your diversions slightly more bracing, you are in the right place. A clifftop walk along the coast will rejuvenate and inspire, and the hotel also arranges sea kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, nature walks and more. Further afield, Waterford is full of historic sights, picturesque towns and quaint fishing villages. Follow a day exploring with a glass of wine in the House Lounge, the perfect spot to while away a calm evening. Cliff House Hotel is a Small Luxury Hotels of the World property.Show More

I am very satisfied with both the location of the hotel and the cleanliness of the room. Except for the bad attitude of the waitresses at the front desk and restaurant, everything else is very good!

Lovely destination for a midweek escape. We dined in the bar on one night & in House the second evening. The menu isnt extensive, but there was plenty of choice. The House team were great & as they had our dietary requirements in advance we enjoyed a seamless taster menu. We were very lucky to have The Ash bedroom, superb comfort & what a view from the shower! We will be back.

What a lovely experience, everyone was so kind, helpful and welcoming. I had arrived early for the use of the amenities, was supplied with flip-flops and a robe. Could help myself to the pool, saunas, and outdoor hot tub. The views are breathtaking. Perfect for getting away and just gathering some peace and bliss. I got the full body Swedish massage 💆‍♀️ and my therapist, Clara, was just amazing. Absolutely fantastic service provided, I did not want to leave. Will be back soon for sure!

Fantastic views, staff very friendly. I highly recommend it for a getaway for 1-2 days. The hotel, spa and its fantastic location with a wonderful Cliff walk is a perfect place for a recharging of your batteries. Pure Bliss! We did not get a booking for the Michelin star restaurant but will for sure go back, this time WITH a booking for that extra special break. Warning for TV fans: there is no TV in the bar or any public areas. This is a place for relaxation.

My wife and I had a short break at the Cliff House Hotel. I had often heard about it but had never been. Right from the very start this was a celebration of old world elegance. I don't mean that the hotel is tired. Far from it. Everything is modern and very well maintained. The rooms are beautifully appointed and by fiendish contrivance all have sea views. The rooms run down the face of the Cliff. Our room had a balcony. There is a cliff garden which runs between the balconies. We ate dinner at the bar which was very pleasant. Our breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts I've ever enjoyed. With valet parking and your bags transferred as if by magic to your room there is a strong sense of being minded right from the start. Which of us doesn't need a little minding? The staff are wonderful. All pleasant and smiling. A particular mention for Patrick who met us on arrival and was such a gentleman making us feel instantly at home. He also rescued us when he found us wandering lost around the hotel for which I am grateful! In short this is a wonderful hotel and a lovely experience. I can't wait to come back.

Great check in,very easy concierge was great. Pool was cold, seascape package isn't worth it. Most places come and check on you during the treatment or fill up water or usually 5 star hotels they have fruit or bites. The dining was good but how slow things were was terrible Food was good, the service was shocking from the drinks side of things, every table was waiting at least 45 mins for a drink we ran out of water asked for it with another drink the drinks didn't come until we left our table an hour later. It was every table complaining about the drink service 🙄 constantly having to ask for the same thing like it's forgotten The girl serving us explained then that they were very short staffed and people hadn't showed up for work but to be honest it took away from the whole experience as we were down for a birthday occasion. Also the doors in the showers in bathroom were stink they should really be changed or let housekeeping know to clean them properly

Starting with the positive the food, and views are amazing! Staff are also friendly. Very disappointed overall with the Cliffhouse after being very excited about the overpriced night we planned. Before check-in, I received an email asking if the night was for a special occasion, which I confirmed was a birthday. Not sure why they asked as nothing was done about this. The hair dryer in our room wasn't working which was quickly replaced, found a hair in the bath and an old dead spider by the bed. We then woke up the next morning to the coffee machine which we hadn't used leaking across the counter and luckily my toiletry bag was soaking this up before it reached my camera! Once again housekeeping was quick to rectify this. The main reason we went was for the spa and this was unfortunately the biggest letdown! The changing room bin was overflowing with towels. Eager to use the sauna, I let reception know it wasn't switched on. They said it gets to a certain temperature and switches off, but she'd look at it. After waiting 30 minutes as instructed and still no heat, I went back out to reception and met another staff member to report the sauna, and maintenance was called. The next day I went to the spa again and the sauna now had a maintenance note on the door and was out of order! I had taken into consideration that the hotel had just opened after the Christmas break but to pay a 5-star rate, I'd expect 5-star facilities.
