Lovely location in Ardfern. Great variety of quality food. Good choice of ales. Really friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable, well appointed rooms. A great place for stopping, or as a base for exploring Argyll. Beautiful surrounding area.

Had an excellent drink and meal at the very convivial Galley of Lorne Inn last night. The food was excellent and we can recommend the steak pie and the seafood linguine. Also we would make special mention of Amanda Maclean who waited on our table and made our evening very pleasurable. We were pleasantly surprised at the reasonable pricing in their dining room overlooking the Loch.

This was a perfect stay in a nice and quiet location with a beautiful view, and a good starting point to explore the surroundings. The room was in top shape, modern and well equipped, the people were nice and very helpful and eveything went smoothly. We had a good time there.

Breathtaking location with amazing views, great service, great food, great bar attached to the hotel, great rooms, couldn’t have asked for anything more, exceptional. Food quality in the evening was great, the traditional Scottish breakfast in the morning was a pure delight and the service throughout was exemplary

I don't ordinarily leave poor reviews, even when a stay falls short of expectations because I am aware of pressures that exist on all hospitality businesses but this time I cannot remain silent for the benefit of others who may be considering a stay. In short I would advise against it at the prices they want to charge. We had booked a 3 night stay some months ago and we're so disappointed to find the stay and service fell so far short of expectations. The kitchen had suffered a gas supply problem apparently just prior to our arrival. Whilst a limited menu was available the absence of the owner and his management oversight left just one junior staff covering with no back-up. This continued throughout our stay. By the morning of our departure there was still no improvement, the staff appeared in fear of the chef, who had been most surly when asked on our return one afternoon for some more teabags for our room. In mid-afternoon the hotel was unattended and public rooms all locked off. Evenings and early mornings the hotel heating was switched off despite apparently being on a different circuit to the kitchen. Overall my impression was of a hotel in terminal decline!

I have been to the Galley of Lorne Inn before, hence my return. We originally booked the Inn so that we could visit Coryvreken Whirlpool, as cruises leave from Ardfern marina. The area has some i.portant historic sites around Kilmartin and The Old Parish Church just outside Ardfern. Oban and Lochgilphead are just a short drive away. My wife and I spent three fantastic days here at the end of April. As soon as you arrive the peace of the accommodation and Ardfern will wash over you. It's a very laid back place, superb staff, very comfortable room, well stocked bar and a lovely restaurant with a great menu and a stunning view over the Craignish Loch. Simply superb, well worth a visit, we will be back. Thanks again
