Quality Inn High Point - Archdale

I was at this hotel for for a two-night stay in early September. Its layout is similar to other Quality Inn properties I've stayed at in the past year - a somewhat older, two-level interior corridor property with no elevator. It's surrounded by other hotels and fast food places, with a couple good locally-owned buffet restaurants found not far up the road. I was given room 106, located on the first floor with a king bed. It appeared to have newer furniture and was in basically good condition apart from some buildup of dirt/dust in the corner of the bathroom, a key-card sleeve from a previous stay behind the nightstand, and a refrigerator with quite a bit of ice built up inside it that needed defrosting. Other than that, I was pleased with my room. The wi-fi only reset once a day and was fast enough for what I needed. The hallway carpet had some clearly visible stains. On a positive note, the hotel still has a hot breakfast buffet with sausage offered on both mornings of my stay. Staff was friendly and helpful, but the front desk staffer was hanging out over in the breakfast area instead of behind the desk on at least two occasions, including when I checked in. Overall, the Quality Inn High Point/Archdale is a pretty good hotel for the price. While I might prefer the other Quality Inn near the Greensboro airport (although this Archdale one has a better breakfast buffet,) this one's still a solid, comfortable choice, especially if you're specifically needing to stay closer to downtown High Point.

pport I recently had one of the worst lodging experiences of my life—across three continents, I have never encountered such unacceptable conditions. The hotel I booked through ******* was extremely dirty, with a strong and persistent smell of sewage. The toilet in the room was completely nonfunctional, and the carpets in both the room and stairwells were stained and filthy. Even worse, when I reported the issue, the only staff member at the front desk handed me a plunger and expected me to fix the blocked toilet myself. This level of service is outrageous and entirely unacceptable. Frustrated and disgusted, I checked out angrily at 10 p.m.—just one hour after checking in at 9 p.m. I had originally reserved the hotel for two nights, and this happened on both nights. A short time after I left, the receptionist called me and casually offered to refund me for just one night. This was an inadequate response to a deeply distressing situation. I had paid for two nights, endured appalling conditions both times, and ultimately had no place to stay. At that hour, I could not find another hotel, and I was forced to spend the night in my car with my son. Not only was the partial refund insufficient, but no meaningful apology or compensation was offered. Given the severe discomfort, emotional distress, and safety risk I experienced, I believe I was owed much more than a refund for one night.
