I am a platinum-level Marriott member. I have stayed at over a dozen Fairfield Inn & Suites across the U.S., including another one in North Carolina on this same trip. There was an issue at this hotel. The toilet in my bathroom was plugged. The lady at the front desk told me that the maintenance man had gone home for the day. She said that she would come up to my room to take a look. I suggested that she bring a plunger and that I would try to fix the problem myself. She agreed. I waited for over half-an-hour. When I called back, I was surprised to find out that she had gone home (her shift had ended). So, no one knew about my problem. Eventually, the staff brought up a plunger to my room. I fixed the problem myself. About an hour later, a manager called to apologize and even offered to put Marriott Bonvoy points into my account as compensation. Otherwise, the hotel is an average Fairfield Inn. The room was clean, it included a microwave and a small refrigerator. There is a complimentary breakfast, which includes hot and cold foods, as well as a small amount of fresh fruit. Despite the issues with the customer service, this N.C. Fairfield Inn was actually about 40% more expensive (for the same sized room) than the one I had spent the night previously in Charlotte. The price difference is difficult to justify.
