Lovely hotel in a lovely little town. Rooms are smaller than expected but perfect size if you are just using it at night and travelling round Crete during the day. Breakfast was great and was always being topped back up so nothing ever ran out.

+ Nice, modern hotel in the City Center of a small town. + I liked the Design of the Rooms and the pool + helpful and friendly staff - Drinks at the breakfast should be improved (real espresso/greek coffee and fresh pressed orange juice). Breakfast itself is nice with freshly produced Greek products - room was a bit tiny and dark due to the fact that the only window was our door towards the street

Lage & Umgebung Sehr gut Bergdorf eben. Aber das weiß man vorher. Mit Mietwagen ein Traum.

We stayed 4 nights at the charming Manili in the Acacia Junior Suite poolside. The room was cosy, thoughtfully appointed and very comfortable. The bathroom featured luxury Korres amenities and excellent water pressure. Good wifi connection. The buffet breakfast included in our rate was definitely worthwhile, freshly made items daily with a great variety of hot and cold choices. Dinner was also excellent and we regretted dining there only once during our stay. Hotel staff are welcoming and professional, special thanks to Nikos for his assistance. The village of Archanes is pleasant to stroll around, in May many of the shops and restaurants were not open for the season so it was rather quiet. But we were glad to stay there as opposed to tourist packed Iraklio. A car is essential. Note: Hotel can be a bit tricky to find, our driving app had us going in circles. Look for the EHIV blue gas station sign on the lower road, hotel parking is directly beside it and easy to find once you know what to look for. We loved our stay!

Upon arrival at the five-star Manili Boutique, Suites & Villa’s, we parked our car at the bottom of the property, as driving further was not possible. The hotel immediately impresses with a stylish logo and three fountains, although only two were working. Due to the steep slope, we decided to leave our suitcases in the car for the time being. Finding the reception proved surprisingly difficult. Despite the presence of several security cameras, our arrival seemed to have gone unnoticed. The reception is not in a logical place – not near the parking lot – which causes confusion. Eventually, we asked for help in the bistro. A friendly young lady took us to the reception and then escorted us to our room. Our room was nicely decorated and exuded luxury, but we soon noticed a few shortcomings. The long window did not close properly and the ‘hot tub’ on the roof turned out to be a jacuzzi – of which there were two, but one did not work when turning on the bubbles. The view from the roof was disappointing: on one side a mountain marred by an electricity pole with wires, on the other side a view of the surrounding houses. The windows in the room itself also offered little privacy or view. The modern technology in the room, such as the light switches, was not explained, which led to unnecessary searching for the right controls. On the positive side, our suitcases were picked up by a golf cart – a service you would expect at a five-star hotel. Later we decided to have a cocktail. Although it was fine, the behavior of the staff was immediately noticeable: they only showed brief attention to the guests, and were otherwise mainly talking to each other or busy with their mobile phones. We are not used to this level of service in a five-star hotel. The swimming pools look nice, but are spread out over the grounds and do not feel inviting if you do not have a room nearby. The breakfast was tasty but certainly not five-star level. There were a number of ‘extras’ missing that you would expect with this classification: • The range was limited. • On day one, there was no honey available (“not today” was the answer). • On day two, the only coffee machine was broken. • You have to ask for coffee at the bar yourself; no one comes to offer it. • Tables are only cleared after you are completely finished. • Dirty plates were often just left there. • On day one, the fruit juice was gone and was not replenished after half an hour. • On day three, the juice seemed to have been diluted with a lot of water. Here too: the staff is superficially friendly, but shows little initiative or helpfulness. There is a lot of chatter, but little actual work. A final remark: the door to the reception was often closed, which did not give a welcome feeling. This contributes to the aloofness of the general service experience. Conclusion: Manili has potential – the concept and the interior are promising – but at the moment the hotel is more of a new

The room is simple, yet very nice to look at, we had some of the best nights ever: very restful. The general ambiance is worth staying outside the big city, in my opinion. The breakfast was good and plentiful. The staff is helpful and friendly. The pool was chilly, but that's because we came at the beginning of the season I think. It was overall a very good experience! Will come back for sure, but next time perhaps more in middle season.
