Arhontiko Villa

I would like to thank my hosts for a pleasant stay. The apartment is located in a picturesque, strategic location, but at the same time in a very private area. It is clean, cosy and tastefully furnished, and authentic. We had a great week, we would recommend it to others, and we will definitely be back

We spent 4 nights at the Arhontiko Arhanes Suites {not to be confused with the Arhontiko Villa also listed in Arhanes - perhaps a former name?} and very much enjoyed our stay. The suites or apartments consisted of individual apartments on the property, with a communal pool area and lounge chairs. Parking was on the street below. Arhanes is a quaint old village, located about 15-20 minutes south from the Heraklion airport. We found we needed a car while in Crete to see the sites we wanted to visit, but in the evening, we parked the car near the apartment, and walked into the village for dinner. The apartment itself was on two levels, with the bedroom and bathroom on the first level, and living room and kitchen on the 2nd level, where we entered the apartment. The kitchen was basic and included a stovetop, and microwave/oven, utensils and cookware, several coffee makers and a small refrigerator. It also had a balcony with a table, and small clothes line, so we were able to wash clothes (by hand) and hang them dry on the balcony. While we didn’t use the pool given the cooler weather, it looked clean and inviting. The apartment met our needs – the bed was comfortable; there was a heater and AC unit in the bedroom; wi-fi worked; and there was a tub and handheld shower which worked well. We were very happy with our stay, and we enjoyed being in a smaller town and away from Heraklion itself. We were also appreciative of the email responses from the owner as questions came up.

Amazing place. Hospitality at its best. Beautiful room and amazing village. Vibrant atmosphere, amazing food and beautiful landscape. Thanks a lot Manos and Anna. We will definitely visit again next year.

Nice spacious apartment, clean. Very charming. We stayed three nights, and really thought it was charming. Would recommend to friends, with the following precautions: 1) We were told we needed to pay cash because they were having problems at the bank. It seemed plausible, until you think of all the technology today, including QR scan codes one can use to conduct transactions. It left me wondering if they ask/expect cash all the time, which is contrary to their listing? 2) Also in the listing, was continental breakfast, which was brought the first morning. The second morning I had to ask for it. The third morning, I did not have to ask. The bread was store bought, and nothing to write home about. Other than those two things, a very lovely charming place if you’re staying in Arhanes.
