The Wrightington Hotel, Health Club & Spa

The hotel provides consistently clean, comfortable rooms and friendly, professional staff. Conveniently located near Wrightington Hospital, it offers a beautiful countryside setting and easy motorway access.

This was my first stay at the Wrightington hotel, booked as very conveniently situated off the M6 and only a few miles from Ormskirk. Very comfortable two night stay very in a beautifully clean room, with an excellent shower, two comfy chairs, and ample space to work. The reception staff were friendly, and the staff serving a really excellent breakfast (especially the sausages) were helpful and attentive. Parking is plentiful and in addition to a lovely outside area there are plenty of places to sit and relax, chat, or work, as well as an all day and good value food service and bar. Rooms have good air-conditioning and (much to my delight) also have windows which actually open. So far, so good. Then the strange things! My room had no usable power points near the bed, and only two in total in the room, in addition to two curiously designed round pin plug sockets, totally useless for any devices manufactured or used in the UK! The kettle and refreshments were welcome, but why only one packet of biscuits for a double room and why only one sachet of coffee? The bathroom in my room was huge, with plenty of room for a bath in addition to a lovely shower, but there was no bath! It also became clear that there is only one king size bed in the hotel, and that in the bridal suite, doubles are not suitable for a fatty like me! The treatment rooms are lovely, but the swimming pool looks like it comes out of the 1950s, and why do we have to take our used towels back to the bedrooms with us? Strange…. All in all this is a lovely hotel and very conveniently situated, spotlessly clean, friendly and helpful staff, great parking, great reception and function rooms….. just a little odd…

Such a lovely place to stay, gorgeous location, beautiful room and we loved the pool and spa facilities. We had an amazing weekend here to celebrate my birthday, I would say the only let down was the breakfast which was ok but nothing amazing. The room was lovely, bed was very comfy and we had everything we needed. Reasonable price for the comfort and quality of the room.
