Haus Edelweiss awaits you in the heart of Little Switzerland at over 3500’ of elevation! Situated directly off the Blue Ridge Parkway and less than one minute to all that Little Switzerland has to offer including: shopping, dining, (seasonal dates are April-October), and hiking to Grassy Creek Falls. Up to four guests enjoy a private entrance, own deck, kitchenette (range/oven, sink, mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toaster), living area, queen-sized bed, pull-out couch, full bath, washer/dryer, flat screen smart tv, and wifi.The space: Guests will have over 600 square feet of living space and their own deck.Other things to note: Little Switzerland shops and dining are closed during the winter months of November-March, but the Blue Ridge Parkway remains open as long as there is no snow or ice. There are several nice towns nearby such as Marion, Spruce Pine, Bakersville, and Burnesville that have shops and dining year round. In the winter months be prepared for snow/ and or ice covered roads including our driveway. We cannot guarantee that the driveway will be cleared due to unpredictable weather and the lack of snow removal equipment. If there is a chance of snow/ ice, you will be required: to either drive a 4WD vehicle, have snow chains, or park below and walk up our steep 200 meter paved driveway. Welcome to the Mothership, an octagonal post and beam cottage built for those with a love of the outdoors. Located on our small farm in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, we are a perfect launching point for adventure. Lake James and the Linville Gorge are only 20 minutes away, Asheville 45 minutes, and Charlotte only an hour. Explore countless waterfalls, miles of trails, or kayak our beautiful rivers during the day, and relax in the hot tub and shoot pool in the evening.The propertyThe Mothership is located on our 15 acre organic homestead. We raise sheep, goats, horses, blueberries, and mixed vegetables. Guests are welcome to meet the critters, pick berries in season, and help themselves to whatever is growing. Guest accessThere is a dedicated parking area for guests. Just come up Idle Acres drive and follow the driveway as it turns to gravel. The mothership will be on the left. If you arrive at night just follow the solar lights.Other things to noteWe encourage people to explore the farm, but please do not feed the animals without asking us first. Thanks!Our area has incredible hiking opportunities like the Linville Gorge and the Mountains to Sea Trail. We have become bit of a Disc Golf mecca. There are 3 good courses within 15 minutes and a professional level course about 30 minutes away. We also have a very happening mountain bike scene with miles and miles of trails of all difficulty levels within 30 minutes.
