We spent 6 nights in July, our first time in La Thuile. The hotel is located in a wonderful and very quiet area, a few hundred meters from the stores in the small center. From the first moment we were greeted with great friendliness and kindness. The facility is very beautiful and well maintained, with quality and tasteful furnishings, consistent with a facility located in the mountains. Breakfast in the morning very complete and with excellent quality products, some even from the area. Special mention to Paolo, maitre d'hall, very professional and always attentive and friendly, as well as the rest of the team. The spa is medium-sized (reservations must be made), beautiful and well maintained. At dinner we stopped only once and the quality was very good. Thanks also to deputy director Maurizio, who recommended numerous itineraries for us, both mountain and non-mountainous. Well done everyone!

Abbiamo deciso di fare un aperitivo al Montana Lodge attratti dal contesto elegante e dalla fama della struttura, ma l’esperienza è stata decisamente al di sotto delle aspettative – soprattutto considerando che si tratta di un hotel a cinque stelle. Eravamo in quattro persone. Abbiamo ordinato tre gin tonic (specificando che li volevamo “morbidi”, non secchi e aromatici) e uno spritz Aperol. Sono arrivati tre bicchieri colmi di ghiaccio, con pochissimo gin e una composizione confusa: ci hanno servito due bottigliette di acqua tonica Mediterranean e una Indian Tonic, tutte per lo stesso tipo di gin. Quando abbiamo chiesto spiegazioni, il cameriere ci ha detto che la Mediterranean era la migliore – il che ci ha lasciati perplessi: perché allora servirne una diversa? A peggiorare ulteriormente l’impressione, come accompagnamento all’aperitivo sono stati portati stuzzichini solo per due persone, nonostante fossimo in quattro. Il servizio è stato frettoloso e poco attento, e il conto spropositato rispetto a quanto (e come) è stato servito.

A pleasant, well-designed hotel a little way out of town. Very comfortable rooms and beds. Friendly and efficient staff, but two serious negatives: The bar and restaurant are significantly over priced e,g. 10 euros for a tea bag and and a jug of water in the bar, no wine under 50 euros in the restaurant, a plate of charcuterie 45 euros. More seriously, at just the time that adults are returning from a day skiing or walking, the spa area is overrun with noisy children, turning the place into a playground. Relaxing it is not! Why aren’t children banned between 4pm and 6pm, the busiest time for adults? For these reasons I will not be returning to this hotel. If you are a family and don’t mind paying silly prices in the restaurant, the place is fine, but if you are a couple looking for a relaxing spa retreat in the mountains, forget it.

Truly wonderful
The rooms are beautifully decorated and very clean as are all of the public areas. Very attentive and polite staff throughout our stay in all areas of the hotel. Breakfast was extensive with extras available from the kitchen. We ate in the restaurant one evening and the food was fabulous. The bar very comfortable and welcoming. We used the spa and again it was clean and an experience to enjoy. Absolutely recommend a stay here.

Hotellipalvelu ei vastannut viittä tähteä, se oli kasvotonta, henkilökunta oli liian kokematonta, ei vastaa 5 tähden palvelun osaamista. Oli erikoista, että spaahan piti varata aika joka päivä ja esim. yritimme varata aamulla klo 9, mutta se ei onnistunut, koska spavastaava tulee vasta klo 10. Sovimme, että hän varaa ja saamme tiedon kun tulemme rinteestä. Ilmeisesti vastaanottohenkilö ei ollut muistanut tehdä varausta koska kun palasimme ip niin meille ei ollutkaan vapaata spa-aikaa. Käsittämätöntä että heillä ei ole reaaliaikaista varauslistaa aamulla. Tarjoilijat olivat nuoria ja puuttui sellainen mukava kohteliaisuus ja ilmeni organisointikyvyttömyyttä, samaa asiaa hoti monta. Huomasin, että aamiaisella he pyyhkivät samalla rievulla istuimet ja pöydät, näin kävi joka aamu. Munakokkeli oli kylmää, jugurttikulhoja sai pyytää kun oli loppu. Tilasin pannukakkuja ja ne eivät kyllä olleet juuri tehtyjä, vaikuttivat kaupan valmiilta pannukakuilta. Muuten aamiainen oli hyvä. Ravintolan illallinen oli todella kallis ja niinpä me ja monet hotellin asukkaat illallistivat kylän ravintoloissa, muutama hassu oli ravintolassa. Baarin yhteydessä sai hivenen edullisempia aterioita. Siivouksesta: huoneet olivat ok, mutta käytävät huonosti imuroitu, samat roskat, nukat viikon ja nurkat pölyiset, sama hiekkakasa rappukäytävässä useita päiviä Yleisissä tiloissa olevassa naistenhuoneessa, skiroomin lähellä, saippua oli loppu useita päiviä kunnes pyysin.

The hotel was just as one would expect of a 5* hotel. Staff was helpful, hotel very clean (we had our towels changed 2Xday), the breakfast was superb. Shuttle service to the lifts and back was great, skiing room and lockers very convenient. Staff very helpful in arranging restaurants for when we did not eat in the hotel. However, children under 16 are not allowed at the pool after 5.30pm! Coming down from skiing at around 4.30/5pm is impossible to get to the Spa just about 5pm. The Manager allowed an extra hr, but I think the reception at the Spa resented it and was really unfriendly. So if you're a couple or singles, it's a great hotel, but I'd say not very family friendly.
