Pleasant and friendly small hotel
Lovely old hotel conveniently located to all the sights of Antwerp, but in a mostly residential area that is quiet and peaceful. Great breakfast, friendly staff, very relaxed environment. The building is beautiful, but be aware that you’ll need to climb plenty of stairs; if that’s a problem, choose a more modern hotel with an elevator! I enjoyed my night here and would stay here again if I return to Antwerp. My room was basic, but I slept well, and that’s what really matters at a hotel.

I would definitely recommend the Rubenshof. The staff, Thierry, Linda and Kavi were terrific. Friendly, well-informed and so helpful. The hotel has Art Nouveau decor and so handsome to look at. And it's 5 minutes walk to the Fine Arts Museum which is full of treasures.

Wij verbleven in dit hotel op 28/02/2025. Mochten we die avond een alternatief hebben gehad, waren we onmiddellijk vertrokken. We arriveerden rond 18u30 en stonden vervolgens tien minuten voor een gesloten deur, zonder iemand te kunnen bereiken. Pas toen er toevallig twee personen naar buiten kwamen, zagen we onze kans om naar de receptie te gaan, in de hoop daar iemand te vinden. Helaas was er niemand aanwezig. Na opnieuw tien minuten wachten, kwam er een man binnen die duidelijk verward overkwam. Het was voor ons absoluut niet duidelijk dat hij de verantwoordelijke was. Hij kon moeilijk uit zijn woorden komen, reageerde vijandig en schold ons uit omdat we zijn rookpauze hadden verstoord, en volgens hem, “weer van die mensen waren die niets horen.” We stonden perplex. De check-in moest toen nog beginnen, maar het verloop daarvan was bijzonder verwarrend. De man leek zichzelf niet onder controle te hebben, kon niet op woorden komen en zijn ogen draaiden weg. Ik voelde mij ronduit onveilig door zijn gedrag. De enige reden dat we gebleven zijn, is omdat we een belangrijke afspraak hadden en geen alternatief meer vonden. Bovendien werkte de magnetische kaart voor de kamerdeur herhaaldelijk niet, wat de situatie alleen maar frustrerender maakte. We zijn dan ook zo snel mogelijk vertrokken. Het hotel zelf maakt een verouderde indruk en het is duidelijk dat er al lange tijd geen investeringen meer gedaan zijn. De ontbijtzaal is de enige troef. Goed personeel maakt of breekt een zaak, en in dit geval is het duidelijk het laatste. Wij hopen dat het management in de toekomst zeer ernstig werk maakt van de selectie en opleiding van bekwaam personeel.

Terrible. Scammed us
Our stay here was unfortunately not the best. We only stayed two nights and this hotel charged us twice. Once online to book it($280), then upon arrival we had a lady who we later found out did not work there charge us another entire two night stay but said it was under a “deposit”($240) which would be normal however we were also later informed by the host that this hotel does not ask for deposits. After we tried to contact this hotel several times and was given the run around they completely ghosted us now after a month of trying to get the refund. So disappointed considering the stay itself was okay, the room was as described. I would not recommend travelers here as they scammed us entirely. I hope no one else goes through this.

Hello, the hotel was central, entrance beautiful and staff friendly. The down side is that the hotel has got bed bugs, and I have now been bitten all over my body. At leat 20 spots. I went to dermatologist that confirmed this. I contacted the hotel and they know about this. I am not a person wh is complaining, but I think it is important to know, especially if you are travelling with small children or people with allergy, since these strong itcht bites can give allergic reaction. I am now on strong allergy tablets and creams. I stayed in the hotel for over a week and was bitten on day 3. Un unplesant experience.
