Comfort Inn

We needed to stay overnight in Antioch to be ready for a medical procedure the next day. Comfort Inn met our needs for a comfortable place to stay, close-ish to the Kaiser medical center, and with breakfast included. Here’s what we liked. Contemporary-styled room with a comfortable bed, blankets, and pillows. Very good blackout shades on the window. Easy-to-use door keycard, and adequate locks on the door. Flat-screen TV. Chaise lounger in the room. Refrigerator and coffeemaker provided. Full-length mirror in the bathroom, in addition to the well-lit vanity mirror. Ceiling fan in the bathroom (a must). Toiletries are provided. Very good breakfast with a variety of choices including waffles, mini-cheese omelets, sausage, breads and pastries, cold cereals, instant oatmeal, yogurt, fresh fruit (apples, oranges, bananas), coffee, and juices. The friendly front-desk staff graciously gave us later checkout when we requested. Some quirky things that weren’t a problem, but were just odd: Artwork (SF city-scapes and coastal scenes) were hung comically high on the walls. Shower door looked like it once had a barn-door-style slider section (hardware was there) but there was no slider door. Half of the glass shower wall was open to the rest of the bathroom. Bad caulking job made the upscale-style shower look cheap. Refrigerator and coffeemaker were inside the bathroom—I’ve never seen that before. Some misses that we didn’t like: The floor was not clean. It was sticky like a movie theater, and we found hairs here and there. This was so odd, since the rest of the room was so very clean! The bathroom was missing some of the baseboard. There were only 3 tissues in the box provided. The toilet was loose, not secured well to the floor. We booked this hotel thinking it would be a bit nicer than its nearby competitors. If we return, however, we will likely try one of them instead, just for comparison. It’s too bad—a little maintenance and clean floor would have made this hotel our go-to when in the area.
