Antananarivo Avaradrano Hotels with Wi-Fi

Not recommended, the reason is that it is far from the tourist attractions, the price/performance ratio is not high, many hotels in Tana are under the name of Radisson 😸, the whole East Africa, Radisson franchise stores are everywhere, but this Radisson is located in the suburbs, I have lived in the Radisson apartment in the old town, it is within walking distance to the tourist attractions, this one is a bit far, you have to take a taxi, and to be honest, I don't think it is special, it is more than 100 yuan expensive for no reason, more importantly: the free airport shuttle is nonsense, nonsense, nonsense 😭😭, just take a taxi yourself, emails are not replied, you have to call to book a pick-up, the price is twice that of the airport taxi, more locals come, the reason is that there is a cinema next to it, suitable for weekends, after all, locals don't go to tourist attractions 😭

We stayed here twice with a few days in between. Our first stay was great! The rooms are lovely, spacious and clean. The restaurant was closed but the outside bar served nice food (only 2 veggie options), though a little noisy and cold (they gave us blankets when we asked). Our second stay was awful! We had two rooms booked, but they said we only had one. We had to wait several hours in reception for this to be sorted with no apology from staff. When we came to check out, they said they hasn’t received the money from lastminute.com and asked us to pay again. I showed proof of payment, but they said they didn’t have it so wanted me to pay. I refused! They asked me to call lastminute.com to sort out the payment transfer to them. I explained that everything on my end was complete and that they could sort it out with the tour operator not me. Also on our second stay the food was terrible - the zebu fillet was completely inedible. When we told the staff they didn’t even acknowledge this problem.

My wife and I stayed 3 nights arriving at 4PM after being met at the TNR Airport. A nice receptionist with decent English copied our passports as the card payment was automatically processed. Another really good English speaking receptionist collected our key cards and escorted us up one of the 3 elevators to the 3rd floor. Room #303 was a perfect Radisson solution to travel, with all necessary items of a 5 star; robes, slippers, large fluffy towels, very comfortable queen with great pillows and duvet, large TV with excellent satellite reception(BBC + 19 other channels), upholstered bench, cushioned chairs, welcome tray(cookies, grapes & candy), 2 designer waters with coffee, cream and chocolate. A costly 6:30AM buffet breakfast or a la carte selections were available at the lobby restaurant. We bought muesli, yogurt, milk, bananas and nuts at the nearby Waterfront Center Shoprite, had lunch at the KFC and at the sister Radisson’s Tamboho Restaurant. I used the upscale 8 station gym and saw the small pool and the Fire Court Restaurant, all with 8th floor city views. We scheduled daily trips with hotel-arranged drivers in Peugeot cars: -50km circuit north to Royal Hill of Ambohimanga($45). -58km circuit south to La Haute Ville d’ Antananarivo Palace, churches and Lemur’s Park($72).

IBIS Antananarivo services have been transformed very positively. My experience this time was marvellous . 0 complaint. The services flew very smoothly and the presentation of the menu in the restaurant to the welcoming smiles at the reception and all the IBIS staff. Will remain memorable! I have stayed ２ times so far. Although it is an old hotel, the location is good and you can be satisfied with the hotel services such as breakfast, sports gym and spa. However, at midnight, the hotel staff had invaded with the key. At 2:30 midnight from August 19th to 20th, 2023, a male hotel staff used the key to enter the room with a woman. When I yelled, they hurried out, and for a while they were quarreling in the hallway, and then the staff called, ”I'm sorry I opened it because I thought it was an empty room.” The next day I went to the front desk to complain, but it was not reported and it seemed to be erased among the staff. So far there is no official apology from the hotel. Those who stay should put chairs or suitcases in front of the door and be careful not to physically open the door. I have stayed here twice now. Although it is an older hotel, hotel services such as breakfast, gym, and spa are satisfactory. However, one time, the hotel staff used a duplicate key late at night to gain entry. On August 19-20, 2023, a male hotel staff member entered the room with a female using a duplicate key at 2:30 a.m. When I yelled at them, they left in a hurry and argued in the hallway for a while. Later, I received a phone call and stuff saying, ”I thought it was an empty room and opened it, I'm sorry.” The next day, Sunday morning I went to the front desk to complain, but it was not reported to reception and seemed to have been hushed among the staff. So far, there has been no formal apology from the hotel. Those who are staying at the hotel should be vigilant to make sure that the door cannot be physically opened by placing a chair or suitcase in front of the door.

The breakfast is good, the location is very good, very close to the factory, driving only 10 minutes. When you go, you will meet National Day and watch the best place for fireworks show!

I don’t know why this place is not rated high. I have stayed in other hotels in Tana, and this is undoubtedly the best. The double bed in Raddison ably is made up of very small single beds, and my back hurts after sleeping for one night. The bed and room are huge. There is a cash machine and a large supermarket just outside the road. Breakfast is much better than Raddison Blu. Very hearty. A little less fruit. Tana deserves first place, but the price is indeed a bit too high.

Spent our last night in Madagascar at the Centell. Room was big and comfortable but we had some annoying issues that were unexpected from a supposed ”luxury” hotel. Only 1 towel in the room and no hand towel. The safe battery was flat so our valuables were locked in after I tested it and left for dinner. The shower leaked water out onto the bathroom floor soaking the bathmat as the fall on the tiles in the shower did not direct water into the drain. The dinner at the Goa restarant was disappointing. My main course was weird with a crispy fried inedible chicken ball and ghee laden rice. The starter was fine thankfully. My husband's vegetable biryiani was bland. I asked for a glass of red wine with my meal but was told I could only order a bottle! But they have a bar upstairs so could surely have asked for one to be brought down. Disappointing. Service was SO much better in all the lodges we stayed in during the rest of our trip as they went out of the way to make everything special for my 60th birthday. Breakfast in the morning was much better with a great choice and lots of fresh fruit and yoghurt.

Hotel Le Grand Mellis Antananarivo is a 3 star hotel. I stayed in room 209 on September 13th 2019. The hotel is located in a busy city center area and was undergoing renovation. Entry to the hotel is through a glass door. The lobby is kind of small. The reception staff is friendly, helpful and can communicate in English with some degree of difficulty yet service is substandard. I have noticed very active clean girls doing the cleaning. They are extremely friendly and work very hard. Room is a little tight, but reasonably furnished. The room has no view and is located top of the hotel kitchen. The room is full of odors released from kitchen exhaust. I was not able to change room because the hotel was fully booked. The room has a small fridge and a mini bar. It also has a split air conditioning unit, I am not sure if it is operational or not. Toilet is renovated with a shower cabinet and hotel branded set of towels. You also get two free 500ml water bottles a day. The hotel has a business center, gym and massage parlor and a new glass elevator. You are expected to pay for breakfast. Breakfast buffet is small which is expected for such a small hotel. It included beans, noodles, and fish. Salad and very scanty selection of cheese. Muesli, raisins, nuts and yoghurt. Bread, croissants and cake. Drinks included juices, coffee and tea. The buffet is manned, which made me a little uncomfortable. I like to pick my own food without having someone following me while picking my food. In summary, you will find most of the facilities that you find in a 5 star hotel in a smaller scale or may be shabby. It is suitable for budget travelers that are not very picky and suitable for businessmen and professionals.

Back after 10 years in this cozy hotel decorated in homage to India, this time I took a room on the 2nd floor courtyard side with shower for 120 thousand Ar simple breakfast offered but I preferred to take the full 15 thousand Ar and I was not disappointed (coffee, fruit juice, 2 pancakes, croissant, omelette, jam, bread and butter). Located in the Ambondrona district, 6 minutes on foot via the stairs to get to Analakely. The staff is very welcoming and always with a smile, if you like to smoke a cigar on the terrace or at the bar with the boss then you can accompany him and chat. There are also mini suites at 150 thousand Ar. Minibar, kettle, air conditioning and balcony in all rooms.
