Booked for two nights at Hogmanay, however decided to leave after one. Initial impression, nice spacious room. Booked for Hogmanay dinner, dining room cold. Husband ordered Seafood Broth, tiny amount of veg, mostly sauce. I ordered Gluten free fish cooked in butter, asked if chips could be changed to potatoes, plate arrived with a small fish and rest of plate boiled potatoes, no attention to detail, no veg as menu. Asked a waitress if I could have some veg, boiled peas arrived. From there the atmosphere changed, the previously very friendly staff, little eye contact and we sat for a long time waiting to pay or add bill to room. The breakfast was the worst we've had, again staff unfriendly and a long wait from unsmiling unhelpful staff. Husband Scottish breakfast, mushrooms cold and rest of breakfast very overcooked. Tomato sauce, cheapest, taste of vinegar. GF, told the Hollandaise sauce for eggs Benedict not Gf!!! All recipes you find, all GF Menu says to help yourself to the fruit and cereal etc. Didn't dare ask for GF cereal. Orange juice tasted similar to diluting. a small dish with a few bits of melon, and 4 whole apples. Asked if there was anymore melon, again no eye contact, and felt everything a bother. Opted for scrambled egg, tomato, Gf toast, waitress asked if I would like salmon or bacon. She asked if was Coeliac.......Yes. Breakfast arrived Scrambled egg, tomato, no toast or bacon. Waitress asked if we had everything, I asked for toast, but thought I better not ask for bacon. Due to wait we had another pot of tea- one teabag in a big pot, coloured water. The usual review e mail arrived within a few days, did mention all above issues, no response and not on website with other reviews. Such a disappointing end to 2024. Staff training needed, all the issues were the hotels fault, not ours, attention to detail lacking on many counts. One night was enough.
