Excellent stay at the Powfoot Hotel. The rooms are cosy and comfortable with everything provided. I have stayed in many hotels and can honestly say the beds at the Powfoot are the most comfortable I have ever slept in. Friends joined me for a meal one evening in the restaurant, only one word needed to describe the experience, superb. I highly recommend this hotel.

We had an excellent stay at the Powfoot hotel for our ruby wedding anniversary. Our courtyard room was perfect for us as my wife has limited mobility. It was very comfy, quite small but had everything we needed. Our dinner was superb - outstanding food at a very reasonable price. All the staff were so helpful and pleasant. We will be back!

We have family who live locally and we often visit the Powfoot Hotel for a meal when over this way. We've been as a small group and for a big family gathering and every time it's been smashing. The food is delicious - really thoughtfully put together and using local produce - there's something for everyone. The view across the Solway is great and the staff are so friendly and kind. We will keep coming back again and again.

Had an overnight stay here with my mother and father in law we had been before a while ago. This time we were allocated rooms in the rear courtyard not the hotel itself there were cobwebs and spiders around in the room which was very disappointing bathroom was a little tired toilet seat was chipped and shower was low on power no wifi connection and no 4g reception. Had some drinks in afternoon very nice overlooking the bay the staff were very keen to keep you seated and not to order at the bar which is ok but they’re not always around. Evening food in their restaurant was nice we all enjoyed but it was not as good as our last visit which at the time was a tapas menu which we all remember being stunning. Overall a little disappointed with powfoot on this visit not sure if this was because we were in the court yard and out of the way of the hotel. Breakfast was nice just missing some beans on the full Scottish as was a little dry the lady waiting on the tables was very helpful with the gluten free options.

We know Powfoot very well as we have family who live there but we had never stopped at the hotel. The location and view is stunning and the staff are very approachable and friendly. We ate lunch as a family and the food on the whole was very good……portions were a little on the small side ,especially the cakes. Our room was faultless, stunning view over the estuary and very clean and comfortable…..we did have an issue with not being able to get hot water but it was quickly resolved and to the hotels credit we were given a slight reduction on our bill to reflect this so thank you. There is a private lounge on the upper floor with a balcony to stand out on which is a brilliant extra for guests. Our only issue was breakfast,I’m sorry to say it was a huge let down.We really look forward to a breakfast when we go away but unfortunately it was just not good enough……..there is no buffet offering and you have to order everything including croissants/cereal etc. The croissant was overcooked and not pleasant to eat almost burnt and then our cooked breakfast came and again everything was very overcooked. We did mention it to the lady who had served us but all she said was…..it is smoked bacon so this is how it cooks? Sorry but it doesn’t cook like this at all as I cook it at home and what about the overcooked lorne sausage and tattie scone? Really gutted the breakfast was like this but it would only take it to be cooked for a shorter time for it to be ok. Even with the issue of the breakfast we would definitely stay here again on a room only basis if this was available?

Had a lovely afternoon with my wife, the staff are friendly and helpful, afternoon tea in the solway room upstairs is fantastic the views amazing, and the privacy to enjoy our afternoon, sandwiches and sweet treats good for the price, would only suggest that they have nicer cups as they look more like canteen ones, thanks for a nice time

My husband and I have just had three days at this fabulous hotel. Room was spotlessly clean, beds extremely comfortable. The food was delicious and we were stuck for choice what to order. The staff were extremely polite and friendly. Would definitely stay here again .

Disappointing meal. Ordered beaded haddock and chips. When it arrived, it was an overcooked small piece of haddock with ovecooked chips and tartare sauce. No veg. We have regularly visited this hotel for food previously and it has always been good. I think we were maybe just unlucky this time but when we mentioned that we weren’t very impressed to the staff, we were told they were cutting costs!
