We stayed at Ancoombra Tea Estate Bungalow as a family of ten, there were 3 generations of us with 4 children under 10.The bungalow was spacious, comfortable with en suite facilities and a large dining room where we could all sit comfortably at the table for meals. It was great for our family to experience staying in a large colonial bungalow surrounded by a huge variety of fruit trees and spice plants and beautiful flower gardens and to even having someone -Manikam- who could tell us about them was a bonus. The children loved the garden, play area and playing chess on the lawn but most of all spotting some of the wild life -grizzled giant squirrels, gara katussa or garden lizards and birds and monkeys It was good to be surrounded by the tea estate to go for walks and for the tranquility of the place it suited all of us.The fact that we were at a working Tea factory meant we were ablet to visit to the EstateTea factory and got a tour of the factory just for our group and the children enjoyed drinking tea afterwards. It was good also that we were able to request milder foods for the children and a variety of delicious spicy Sri Lankan foods for the adults. The afternoon Tea and cakes in the garden looking out at the hills and beautiful surroundings is something we will always remember. We also found this place very convenient to tour the area. We visited Kandy, Matale, the Ranwelli spice garden, the Royal forest park of Kandy - Udawatta Kele Sanctuary and the Peradeniya gardens during our stay. Unfortunately we did not have enough days to explore more places. Overall we had a wonderful time here and appreciated the attentiveness of all the staff and kind hospitality of Terence and his team - chef Augustine, Manikam and Murugasen. They made us feel very welcome and were always ready to help and made our stay very special. Everyone enjoyed Augustines' pol roti, kothu roti, kola kanda etc. This was the first visit to Sri Lanka for our grandchildren and some of the adults and we have all had a wonderful time here. We will definitely be back when we visit Sri Lanka again. Tambyraja family
