We stopped off for a night en route South. The hotel is right in the centre of the upper town. A handsome building, its public areas on the ground floor are certainly 4 star quality, whilst its large adjoining garage is excellent and essential. The rooms are slightly tired and more three star quality, but overall the value proposition is very good. Slightly underwhelming reception when we landed and service generally, not least when our reserved parking seemed to have been given away by a receptionist who seemed relaxed by it all. Don’t let this put you off - the hotel and town can certainly entertain you for a very good 24 hours.

Stayed for one night. When I entered the room the window was open, later I understood why: with the window closed a smell of sewage emanated from the bathroom. Kept the bathroom door closed and that solved the problem, bathroom looked clean, shower stall looked old and not well maintained, didn't use it. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I had included breakfast and that was worthwhile to have. Compared to other Ibis budget hotels this didn't quite make the grade. Ok for one night and close to the station.

Het hotel is bijzonder door de inrichting. Hele vriendelijke medewerkers. Het pand is een prachtig oud pand met veel sfeer en oude details. Geen airco maar we kregen een ventilator voor op de kamer en dat was voor ons prima. Het ontbijt was goed. Door de ligging, midden in het centrum, was het de perfecte uitvalsbasis om de mooie stad Angouleme te verkennen.
