Hotel Perrakis

Hotel Staff was great... helped with my bags to room. Location was beautiful. 6 min drive to port (Gavrio). 10 min drive to Batsi. Private beach with chairs n umbrellas. The pool looked beautiful. I didnt get a chance to eat at on site restaurant. We had a great cab driver who was decent with prices n we were able to set up times for pick ups from hotel n dinner venues. Thank you all for an incredible stay. andros is a beautiful island n im glad to have spent part of my 2nd Honeymoon here.

We went to eat at Francesco. It was empty. Not even one client. We picked a nice table in the shade with view. They refused to give it to us and said we have to sit at a table for 2!! It was 3 pm and there were literally zero other clients. One waitress (tall, blonde, acne) was especially rude. I tried to explain to her that it was empty and we were the only clients. She kept saying someone might come. What are the chances the restaurant would fill up between 3-4 on a weekday? No business sense. Rude reception. I told the guy at the hotel front desk and he did not care.

We have been visiting Andros from the UK for 25 years and one of the highlights of our stays has always been our fabulous Sunday lunches at the Perrakis Hotel, starting with a wonderful gin martini. The food, service and ambience has always been exceptional. Sadly nothing could be further from the truth this year. We arrived at 1.45 last Sunday to be told that the bar was closed. “Only Pool Bar open”. My partner therefore went down to the Pool Bar and returned with the worst martini I have ever tasted in a plastic receptacle. Warm liquid which tasted nothing like a martini costing 12€ each. In retrospect we should have returned them. The lounge bar then opened at 2pm. If we had been informed of this we would have waited and at least been served them in a proper glass! We decided not to have lunch there as it has now transformed into what once was a wonderful traditional Greek restaurant into an Italian Pizza and Pasta place. I complained to Mr Philip Perrakis who was sitting at reception and his answer regarding the martinis was “They don’t know how to make them” and regarding the restaurant that “we have to move with the times”. It beggars belief that what should be properly trained bar staff at a top hotel are not skilled in cocktail preparation. It would appear that what was once a fabulous traditional Greek hotel which boasted to possess one of the best kitchens on the island and was an oasis of tranquility and calm has sadly lost its way. We shall not return.

Spring in Andros! Beautiful hotel overlooking the sea. The staff were very friendly and helpful providing anything we requested. The only downside was that we were here early in the season so the pool and the restaurant were closed. Timing is everything. :)
