good for students on a rowdy grad trip with friends, not great for actual tourists. this place was designed and operated like a frat house. it was brimming with teens that moved in big groups and quite often pretty noisy. it’s not really a place i would recommend for families or people looking for a comfortable stay, and i definitely did not expect this. i can see it being fun for backpackers looking to socialise or college kids travelling with friends though. the room was extremely small, different from the pics it didn’t have a table/chair so we literally just had bed, floor and a big side cupboard… worst part is that the windows DO NOT OPEN (according to the staff, it’s an “amsterdam thing”) and the aircon was basically non-existent, you can’t control the temp at all and it was so stuffy. they provide each room with a small fan but god it was really stale and stuffy in there. the shower was quite bad too, with the worst water pressure ever and a very wide spray that wet everything except you. the small shower glass did nothing to prevent the entire toilet floor from getting wet, i honestly considered showering in the common use toilets that the shared room guests use… housekeeping seems to be subpar - when we checked in, the toilet bin wasn’t cleared from the previous guest and there were some used pads inside 🤮 they were also supposed to clean the room once every few days, but they never came to clean at all in the 4? 5? nights that we stayed. we could tell by the unmade bed and hair on the floor, and bins were only cleared once in our stay. the guy working the front desk on our check in night was kinda unfriendly too, he was really slow with service despite a huge line. the filipino lady staff on other days was really helpful and kind though. location-wise, you have to take the ferry to access it but i booked it knowing that so i can’t complain. it’s quite near to the ferry terminal though, and we never had to wait for ferries as they run super frequently. all in all, it was okay for a stay since we only went back to the room at night, but with how much we paid, it was quite disappointing in size, environment, service and cleanliness. book with this in mind!

The hostel is strategically located, making it easy to explore the area

I had a mix feeling about this hostel. The location is superb, close to the centraal station although you need to take the ferry to cross the river (don't worry, it's free). Upon arrival, the room is really clean. Bed sheet and cover were provided, thus I needed to make my own bed. Apparently, the room was not cleaned every day. During my 5 days stay, they only cleaned it twice. Also, the soap container in the toilet was broken, so the soap kept falling to the floor, which made an unpleasant mess. Curtains were also broken, so we slept every night with a see-through window. I reported this issue to the receptionist, but nothing was done to fix it. There is no communal kitchen as well, so I could not boil hot water to make my own tea or instant noodles. Everything is charged here. If you want to check in early, you need to pay. If you want to book the lower bunk bed, you also need to pay. I think the positive point of this accommodation is just the location, everything else was meh.
