The hotel location must be what makes this place rank so high because the other features are poor to average. It's near the central train station and ports of call for many cruise lines. We walked from Emerald's port to this hotel in about 10 minutes carrying packs. The place is run by two very sweet young men...helpful, polite...and check in was easy. The stairs are steep and spiraled, and carrying luggage or packs is not fun. The rooms are very small. Ours did not have a closet. The very small sink is located inside the very small shower. You have to duck your head under the very small shelf to spit into the sink. When you exit the sink, you brush against the shower door, and if it's wet, then you get wet. There was no toilet in our room. Instead it was located in the hallway, shared with 2 other rooms. The toilet space is very small, too. The bed was not a mattress, but rather a 2-inch pad. It was MEH as far as comfort goes, and it kept sliding off. The pillow was large but lumpy. The room was quiet at night (we faced a courtyard) but my friends faced the street and said it was a little loud. The room has an AC unit which worked very well. We paid about $300 for this room. I would look towards the Museum district and pay a little more to get a LOT more. The city tram carries you there easily, so even if you're on a train or boat, it's a very easy commute to a better hotel. If you're young and partying downtown, and don't care about niceties, then this place is good to crash in. But my hubby and I are in our 50s and we did not love our stay here.
