A holiday we were all looking forward to was rather ruined by the disappointing and terrible service of this property. For starters the GM Mr. Priyantha Jayasooriya wasn't even at the property, quite conveniently he was on leave. This after, informing him prior to our visit that we are looking forwards for a good stay at the villa. They made us feel that as locals we weren't welcomed as much, as they did not bother nor cater to our requests. Food was a let down, and during both days they had the audacity to say that they were limited on the portions of lankan breakfasts they can offer for a group of 8 adults. (In their google review they've replied that their staff asked us the previous night regarding our breakfast preferences, they ABSOLUTELY DID NOT, and even if we did ask, their staff has no clue on what's been served at the villa or anything happening at the villa) Would take more than an hour to send water, meals or anything in fact to our rooms. Not at all worth for the money spent. A beautiful location rundown by an inefficient and negligent management. Will never return nor recommend this property to anyone. Here’s a polished review draft based on your notes: I stayed at Aprota Villa in Arugam Bay and, unfortunately, the experience was far from satisfying. The property is definitely not up to the standards of a five-star hotel. The entire place feels run-down and in need of serious renovation. While the staff seemed to be putting in effort, the overall results were disappointing, and it simply did not feel worth the money paid. On top of that, the manager was unhelpful – refusing to cancel some of our nights when we wanted to leave earlier, which left a very negative impression. Another drawback is the location. The villa is quite far from the center of Arugam Bay, making it inconvenient for getting around. Overall, I cannot recommend this place. It was overpriced, uncomfortable, and poorly managed.

This is a beautiful, peaceful hotel with bungalows in many acres of land and close to the sea, although the sea is not particularly safe to swim in (no lifeguards and rough water). The beach is empty, no bars or restaurants. The nearest area for bars/restaurants is a 20/25 min drive away in a tuk tuk which cost approx £5 for 3 people one way so if there is 4 of you 2 tuks are needed so £10 one way. The hotel is gated with a security person 24/7 which is definitely a positive. You do feel as though you are in the middle of nowhere. The bungalows are spacious and we experienced a couple of power cuts. The wifi works when you are in the room only as you connect to the room's individual wifi. We had a little garden area with a plunge pool and distant view of the sea. The aircon was noisy even when switched off (was making a humming noise). The staff are very friendly throughout the hotel, the porter boys always smiling, the manager always checking everything is ok but I have to say the restaurant and bar service is extremely slow and it is not due to lack of staffing, I think it is lack of training. This place has so much potential, it could do with a coffee shop/day time bar. It was a beautiful place but lacked a vibe and was too far away from anything. I was travelling with my husband and 2 teenage children age 16 and 18. The alternative is to stay in Arugam Bay but the hotels are more back packer places and I would imagine are quite noisy at night.

4 of us had a great time at this hotel on a 2 nights stay. Food was great and we have to thank the very friendly chef on that. The manager Mr. Priyantha Jayasooria and his assistant Mr. Anil were very caring and helpful. The F&B manager Mr. Salinga Herath did a great job at the restaurant with his staff where we had all our meals. We could also hire a Safari Jeep with guide/driver Mr. Shantha through the hotel and had a very nice and safe tour of the Kumana national park. This hotel is a seafront hotel and the rooms are spacious and very comfortable with overall excellent service and friendly staff. Highly recommended. By Lucky Jayaratne

The hotel rooms, pool and garden are AMAZING! Possibility of bungalows with small private pool. Friendly and helpful staff! The restaurant is the only negative thing: the staff is very kind, but the food is mediocre and very expensive. Very positive experience anyway!

We would like to thank the entire team and management for 8 wonderful days. We have rarely experienced such an extraordinary and extremely friendly service. The entire complex eats beautifully and the rooms/villas are extraordinary!!!

We came here with my girlfriend and we are very happy that we chose that hotel. It’s 10 min from Arugambay. Food here is also very delicious and of course service it’s very excellent. We have wild beach 100m from hotel and it’s look nice. Definitely I would chose this hotel second time.

Just wanted to thank the GM and the staff for a fantastic stay at the new management run Aprota Villa. Thank you for the meals served for the kids specially for them. The pool staff were great and helpful. Rooms are cleaned always. Thank you again.
