Motel 6 Amherst, Oh - Cleveland West - Lorain

It was booked through Priceline, I gave the clerk my credit card and he kept asking me if I wanted to pay cash. He said there was a $50 refundable deposit that would be returned the next day as long as the room didn’t smell like cigarettes (according to whose nose? How about refund if the smoke detector doesn’t alarm?). I didn’t really have a choice because the reservation was nonrefundable. Here is the shocker- they did not refund the deposit! We do not smoke, or I would have simply booked a smoking room, that isn’t difficult to do. Other bad things about the room- very dirty, hard floors had lots of dirt, maybe sand? And the bathroom wall had rust colored splatters (hopefully wasn’t blood!). Lots of people standing around outside was creepy, I assume they were outside smoking in hopes to get their deposits refunded. We travel a lot, probably stay in a hotel about twice a month. This was definitely on the list of the worst hotels we have ever stayed at.
