Room 303 has no air flow. The window opens only so far and the blind is up by Velcro. Ask for a fan if you are there in the summer weather. Room 12 is lovely, massive bathroom and 2 sets of windows that open. Much cooler room. The building is lovely, the location is spot on and food is delicious - dinner and breakfast. Service for breakfast could have been a bit more attentive

My friend and I stayed here for two nights. Staff was incredibly friendly, our room was clean, and the hotel itself is very charming. We didn't try the bar or the breakfast, but dinner and afternoon tea were delightful. It's also in a great location in Old Amersham. Lovely experience overall.

The hotel has been an inn for over 350 yrs and the village very quaint. Hotel needs a major clean and update in rooms. The website pictures are not an accurate representation of current state. Broken shower head., cracked tile and poor lighting in bathroom this also held true for other travelers in our party. Blankets needed a wash and room needed a thorough dusting and cobwebbing. Carpet musty and damaged in places. Rooms slope towards windows. Common seating areas need upholstery cleaned as does carpeting in access areas. There is parking on premises and staff is attentive.Breakfast was adequate with basics. When booking this hotel keep in mind there are no elevators (lifts) but no shortage of stairs…pack light you’ll be hefting them up the historic stairs.

Very poor. We ordered two sandwiches for lunch which cost almost £10 each. The bread was cheap supermarket bread, the sandwiches were dry, the fillings were cheap and minimal and, to top it all off, they actually used crusts for the tuna sandwich! In addition, the beer was flat, and the caesar salad was drenched in sauce. For the price we paid (£42 for three people), an absolutely shockingly poor level of quality.

This hotel is in a prime position for enjoying the delightful area. A very characterful suite of buildings. Excellent breakfast choice all cooked to order.

There was no one at reception when I got their, just a note saying go across to the bar. Walked over to bar and just got pointed back. No real issue it was a tuesday evening, I assume low staff numbers late on a tuesday. The hotel looked great, the bar also I thought was very good. The room itself I was disapointed, the bed was really uncomfortable and the noise/music from bar made it impossible to sleep. I had to be up very early and if I got more than a few hours sleep I'd be surprised, felt shattered the next day. The bed I will admit might suit others, I'm not fussy but perhaps it just was not for me. I was too early for breakfast, but it was being set up when I checked out and I was sorry to miss out looking at how nice it all looked.

This place is lovely for a place to meet friends for drinks and a chat. However we have noticed over the last few weeks that standards appear to be slipping. Outside areas both front and rear have ashtrays overflowing and empty glasses and bottles from,I believe from the previous night. When it was reported to the French? barman he seemed very disconcered
