The castle is full of British style, the hotel environment is elegant, the room service is in place, there is a large lawn outside the city wall, an open countryside, beeswax-colored buildings, medieval walls, mossy stone roads, various exquisite sculptures and ornaments... Here we breathe the fresh air, taste the most authentic English afternoon tea and English breakfast, and enjoy the paradise-like manor life, comfortable and cozy. Highly recommended

Highly recommended, a great castle hotel, built in 1103. The room I stayed in is 800 years old. The service and dining are very good. The castle dinner is recommended, it's delicious. You can see the starry sky at night and the birds are singing in the morning, which is very healing.

Compared with Scotland, this is an old castle with few choices around London.
Help with parking, restaurant food and service are good, one night is fine.
It's not how good the indoor facilities are, but it is indeed an ancient castle.

It was my 40th birthday and we arrived for afternoon tea. There was scaffolding everywhere, loud music from a yoga retreat and neither had been communicated to us. We could have moved past this had it not been for our awful experience with afternoon tea! The atmosphere was just dire. Dead. Dull. Miserable. Our waitress was miserable and honestly, it just kind of made the experience pretty rubbish. Our food was sparse, hardly anything on the plates and pretty basic stuff. For £99 we won't be going again. It actually made my whole day kind of ruined :(

Not bad overall. Property is quite dated and needs a bit of a makeover in various places. Breakfast and dinner was lovely and of good quality. We enjoyed our stay overall

Second time here in 5 years. Nothing has changed on service. Not enough staff creating a poor customer experience. Table service in the garden was non existent and we ended up leaving. Restaurant there was one waiter for 5 tables. took 25 mins just to get the one. Food was really nice. Just a shame that the management don’t staff it adequately

Ja, es trifft schon zu: es war fast wie im Märchen. Nicht die Zimmer, die eher 4-Sterne-Standard haben, über keine Minibar und keinen Safe verfügen. Auch das Badezimmer ist eher klein und verfügt nur über eine Badewannedusche. Aber das Hotel, wie es gelegen und eingebettet ist in alte Burgruinen, ist in der Tat märchenhaft und einzigartig. Aus diesem Grund lohnt sich der doch eher hohe Preis für die Uebernachtung in dieser reizenden Location. Das könnte nicht einmal Disney besser machen - und das erst noch gewachsene, reale englische Kultur! A lot better, indeed! Das Abendessen war ausgezeichnet! Der Koch versteht sein Handwerk und der Service ist schnell und humorvoll freundlich. Darum verdient dieser Ort die volle Punktzahl. Ein Erlebnis!

We really enjoyed our stay! The castle was pretty despite being under renovation. We really enjoyed walking around the grounds and the town nearby was very cute. The staff was incredibly helpful, especially the restaurant staff who were creative and careful about our dietary needs. There is a dress code for the restaurant which we did not realize at first, so make sure you pay attention to the terms and conditions for that. Our room was very spacious and the bathroom very high-end. There was no air conditioning, but we had a fan and despite it being warm outside we were comfortable.
