Sunset Caribe Belize

San Pedro was a good time. We stayed at sunset caribe which is a beautiful modern resort close to town and the beach. We did a two bedroom and it was nice. Service was a little slow at times but overall good. Everyone gets around in golf carts and the food was amazing. Not as cheap as we expected but not outrageous. Please buy your liquor at the airport!! Liquor in town is very expensive. The food at the local stores was expensive also. It was cheaper for us to eat out everyday! We visited Caye kaulker which was another beautiful island just smaller and less hustle and bustle. We took the speed boat which took about twenty minutes. It was called the carribean sprinter which was about 35 us round trip. The pool at sunset caribe stays open 24 hours which was amazing!! Hot tub was hot and pool was perfect temp! Would definitely go back. Had a great time in Belize!

Property and stay was great

This is a modern property with an austere look. In fact, it's still under constructions. The pool and pool bar areas are the highlights, with views over the bay and towards the sunset. Beware there is NO BEACH ACCESS. Contrary to assumptions, guests are not allowed to access the beach or other amenities at Grand Caribe, the sister property across the road. The recommended public beach was a US$110 cab fare round trip. We did not like the location, which was a 25-minute driver north of San Pedro with limited access to groceries or restaurants, but was still noisy with traffic. Next time I would opt to embrace the bustle of being in San Pedro or embrace the calm of a more remote location. I was repeatedly frustrated by little details that would have been easy to fix at Sunset Caribe including 1) they provide kayaks for exploring the bay, but not before 8 am, when the sun and wind are less; 2) they provide a gym, but also not before 8 am, when I was usually leaving for an outing; 3) they provide 2 L of drinking water on your first day, and then you have to go out and buy water. This was the only hotel in Belize that did not provide water, not even a jug in the lobby. The room itself was very clean and nice, with austere modern decor (think white, grey, steel, glass). The kitchen was relatively well-appointed, though the cheap teflon pans were badly beaten up. The staff here were nice enough but seemed somewhat disorganized. One evening there was a knock, and then a staff member keyed in without waiting for a reply. I confronted him, and he admitted being on the wrong floor but did not apologize or acknowledge the custom of waiting after knocking on a hotel door.

Wonderful Stay I had a beautiful time on my first solo trip. The loft style room was just what I needed. I felt extremely safe, and even washed my clothes in the unit. I rented my gold cart directly from Sunset Caribe, which was perfect. Location is perfect as well. My commute to downtown and Secret Beach was about 15-20min.

Would definitely stay again but would not book transportation in advance. We had to wait 30-45 mins when we arrived and when departing.
