Grand Caribe Belize

So disappointing. The sarcasm in the water prevents any ocean swimming off shore. And the smell is atrocious. The resort is VERY touristy and crowded. The food is horrible. If you want to enjoy Belize, stay inland in the jungle. Definitely don’t waste your time at Grand Caribe.

Just checked in to our one bedroom (H8) oceanfront on the 3rd floor is amazing. The view from the room is spectacular and can’t be beat. The furniture and decor is upscale, reminds me of a furniture showroom. Very well designed, full kitchen, full fridge, toaster oven, blenders with an island and two chairs. The large balcony has seating for 6, again ocean view. The bedroom and living area is separated with glass double doors, with thin curtain, so you could close the door off. The living room has 50 inch smart tv and there’s also a tv in the room. Each room has its own WiFi, when you leave the room there is guest WiFi throughout the hotel. They also offer free paddle boards and kayak!! You’re greeted at the front desk with rum punch (or virgin) and theconcierge personally walks you to the room and provides an overview of the hotel and amenities. In order to get t the island you need to take a small 10 passenger aircraft. We used Maya Air, please be sure to book yourself we over paid going through the hotel concierge. The flights run every 40 minutes and is a quick 15 minutes, if you arrive early to Belize city, you can request an earlier flight. The wait was about an hour, but there are numerous restaurants to pass the time. The hotel will arrange pick up from the airport to the hotel. Please be sure to rent a golf cart one or all your days here and travel downtown. I hope my review helps you. The only con, is the beach is un-swimable, do to the seaweed, the hotel said they clean the private beachfront daily, but one thing to mention is it smells horrible! This is not a show stopper for us as we plan, to return when the seaweed is not bad.

Why does a 4 star hotel, Gran Caribe Belize, claiming to be the best in San Pedro, have no accommodations for people with disabilities and limited elevators. We were assigned a room on the third floor with three flights of stairs and no elevator. The hotel website dies not indicate that most of the buildings have no elevators. When we inquired about upgrading to the one section that has an elevator, we were informed that no rooms were available despite the fact that the website indicates that deluxe rooms are available. The front desk staff has tried to resolve the issue for over one hour to provide a room with just one flight of stairs. What a disappointing start to a birthday celebration and vacation. High expectations have been completely diminished by this experience.

Large, breezy, very comfortable, tastefully decorated, every modern kitchen amenity available, very helpful, knowledgeable and courteous staff. Internet/wifi very unstable. Altogether, a good five nights stay!!!!

This was our second stay at the resort. Hospitality and accommodations were excellent. Friendly group at the swim up bar. Enjoyed the excursions and took advantage of their spa services. Going again next year!

The Grand Caribe is a beautiful resort! Our family loved the 4 room suite. Great views, personable and helpful staff, very comfy beds, definitely the perfect choice! Highly recommend! The Rain Restaurant adjacent to resort has amazing food!
