We sometimes get bored of large chain hotels so The Nest Hotel was a very refreshing change. This hotel has many quirks but the entire experience was quite lovely and enjoyable. While the hotel is not part of a large chain, it is part of Mr & Mrs Smith and can also be booked on Hyatt's platform. The hotel is a bit in the middle of nowhere and there are no alternatives nearby except other independent hotels. It's about one third of the way between Lisbon to Porto. The nearby location has many trails for hiking or biking. We booked an "apartment" which had a fully stocked kitchen and a bird theme as per the name of the hotel and our room was entirely made of wood. I found the construction quality to be very good. For breakfast it was unusual in the sense that they brought a basket to our room for a picnic rather than make guests go to a large central restaurant. The one downside was that the selection was rather limited without interesting dishes that stood out from the ordinary, unlike the rest of the hotel which is quite unique and imaginative.

A country house stay located in one of the most beautiful valleys of Portugal ! A serene & quiet oasis in the tradtional village pf ALVADOS! Have breakfast delivered to your door in a gorgeous basket & eat on your room deck with a pool & stupendous view of nature! Cooking classes , bike rentals , trails & delicious meals at the onsite restaurant terruja!

Was a great get away. The facilities were new and well thought out. Had a hiccup on check-in as they didn’t have connectivity with *******. Originally had room 18 (?) and it was tiny and wonky. Upgraded to suite 22 and it was awesome! Huge difference but not much via rate. Definitely pay for upgrade. The AC in the room wasn't working very well but was still comfortable. Highly recommend!

They claim as their core bussiness “that quiet and relaxing time is one of the top priorities”. However they allow big partys for 60 persons with a lot of music and noice, wich disturbs the whole village and the other guests. We booked months ahead and were informed quite lately that a small party would be held in the hotel, far from our room. When arrived, unfortunaly our room was situated in the middle of the party, so think twice before booking this hotel that pretends to guarantee you a quiet and relaxing time!

Fabulous quirky hotel with friendly staff and a brilliant location. The food was amazing and we hired e-bikes to explore the local area including the amazing caves at San Antonio and Alvados. The pool was a little too cold at 18c but everything else was excellent. Ask for room with view of the pool and mountains.
